A Photo Walk Thru My Favorite Garden Center

It was about 4:00 in the afternoon, the sun was shining, I had about an hour and a half before my Thursday evening Cursillo group meeting, so what did I do?  Grabbed the camera and off I went to my favorite garden center which just happens to be a short 5 minute drive from the house.  I knew with the cooler weather that blew into the area (blissfully cool, no AC and blankets at night) there would be beautiful fall flowers, pumpkins and fun ornaments to decorate your front porch and yard for the coming, faster than we anticipated, Autumn season.  And I was right.....so join me as I take a photo walk thru the garden center on a lovely September day.

The russets and golds on these rudabekias (sp?) had Fall as their middle name.

I have no idea what these were, but loved their soft, pale yellow flowers compared to the brights that surrounded the entire area.  I am linking this to Misty's Through a Photographer's Eyes favorite photo of the week.

I loved this one with it's deep ruby red petals.  I can see this on my front porch.

Many of the flowers had daisy-like petals, but were cloaked in fabulous colors.

The pansy is back (hoorah!) making her fall appearance to lend her beauty to Fall plantings.

Stock (what an odd name for a flower) is another cool weather plant that adds that great punch of color.

I know, with all this great color around why would I de-satuate the color from this.....I have no excuse, other than sometimes I just have to do different.

And to this beauty I added a texture.....

Cannot believe that the leaves are already beginning to change....but here is proof.  With the cool nights and dry weather I think the fall color will be here and gone in a heart-beat.  So, I am going out as much as I can to capture all the beauty I can find.

As I walked thru the gardens I could hear the trickling water from the many fountains, the sound just added to the spirit lifting afternoon.

And finally this heavenly blue masterpiece.  Again, no idea what this is, I guess I should bring a little notebook with me and jot down the names of these beauties, but I am in love with this stunner.

I think I promised pumpkins and fun decorating items, but I got so caught up in the flowers I didn't even look at the pumpkins....next time.  Fall is a brief season but while it's here, take time to enjoy it's glory.

and autumn a mosaic of them all."

Until next time.....

  1. Ohhh, love that last one...the colors are perfect! I love the little yellow flowers too. At first I was going to say that they are a type of chamomile, but I'm not so sure they are. I just saw some of them at a flower shop yesterday. Hope you have a good weekend.

  4. Your flowers and photography are breathtaking! I just loved taking a walk through your garden centre with you! That yellow one may be Tansy? I see you have rudebeckia - I think I may have called mine a coneflower in error . . .
