Happiness Is a Dusting of Snow

Today is Texture Tuesday over at Kim Klassen's Cafe and her wide open theme is happiness using any of her textures.  Well, that's an easy project seeins' as she shares her new textures with us each and every week.  I have been a follower of Kim's for probably a year and half, give or take, and due to her generous nature I have an over-flowing folder filled with her beautiful textures.  Have you ever known anyone quite as generous as Kim?  My goodness she does spread her happiness all over the world.  And I am one of the fortunate ones on the receiving end of her generosity which makes me very happy.

When I woke this morning, looked out the window, I saw that a little dusting of snow had fallen overnight.  Since we have had very little snow this winter and lately the outdoors has consisted of mainly greys and browns, the white snow was like little beams of light.  The amount was minimal so I didn't hesitate to walk out into the back yard, still wearing my robe and slippers and take a few quick shots before the pink fuzzy slippers were soaked with the wetness of the slight snow covering.  Everything is still brown, but even with that insignificant amount it still gave everything a fresh look.

I used Lily on this image, one layer of soft light....

Aurora, one layer at soft light....

Revolution, one layer at soft light

And finally today I reconnected with an old friend who I had not seen in two + years.  Barb was the very first neighbor I met when we moved to Naperville 35 years ago.  Our children played together and now they are all grown, married and have children of their own.  We went to one of our favorite places today, enjoyed a lunch filled with chatter about families and all that we've missed in each other's lives and a vow that we would see each other again soon.  While shopping (ofcourse we did a little shopping) I found the pink, red & white candy corn in a sweet candy shop, perfect for a Valentine's Day image.  And yes, even tho it is pink, red & white, it still tastes like the yellow, orange & white that we enjoy in the Fall.

I used Wedding Album with 1 layer of soft light on this final image.

Hope your Valentine's Day was filled with over-flowing love and happiness.

Until next time.......

  4. Gorgeous images, Deanna. I wouldn't mind a little light snow for a change of scenery. It's so brown and grey when there's no blue sky.

  6. I loved them all - and a dusting of snow! We got one Sunday night, but it disappeared almost immediately! But that last pinkish one really stands out!

  10. So pretty, Deanna! I missed out and didn't buy any candy for props. I'll have to keep this mind for the next holiday! :)

These are lovely, Deanna. I can't decide what I love more...the hydrangea or the last photo with the candy. Have a wonderful day.

  12. Am impressed the candy corn lasted long enough for a lovely image. It wouldn't have at my house!
