Spring left, or it left last night and did not return this morning. It is cool, cloudy, drippy, not an ideal time for a photo walk, so thought I would continue to post photos from Galveston. I have a gazillion, and each one of them brings me back and floods my mind with special memories. I don't know when I will ever return since my brother is moving, so these photos will have to remind me of a special time.
You probably think this is a strange Galveston memory, but they do have cattle there, not for milk, but for beef, eventho the trend is to eat less beef, I feel sure that there are plenty that still love a good steak. Love those little birds that hang with the cattle, they are Cattle Egrets, appropriately named. The one on the left looks like he is cautioning the cow not to get any closer. Sharing this with Nancy over at A Rural Journal for Rural Thursday (I know it's Friday, but that's OK)
I haven't even begun to post the multitude of images I have of all the lovely flowers that were in bloom in the Galveston area...these are just a few.
Flowers grew everywhere, even in the cracks of the sidewalks....
Fences were loaded with blooms...
I am not familiar with this flower but it was on a bush, resembled a hydrangea but with thick waxy leaves, a stunner.
This little sweetheart was down at the beach being blown by those strong surf winds...
Love these little iris'. They grew in large clumps with strong saber like leaves and the flowers sat right on top just pretty as you please.
And the roses.....oh the roses were supreme.....
And because it is so grey here today, without sun or surf here is a great reminder that summer will come to our part of the country some day (soon I hope!)
And.....one of the gorgeous sunsets that came my way. Don't ya think that sunsets and sunrises just seem to be more beautiful at the beach?! Linking up to Through a Photographer's Eyes....
Whew, I think I will stop now....more to come.
If you aren't completely exhausted looking at all these, I would be most gratified if you would stop by my collaborative blog, Focusing On Life where I am musing on more of My Favorite Things.

Until next time.....

ReplyDeleteI really, really love that cow! :)
ReplyDeleteI know its crazy how cold it got overnight! Usually we wake up sweating (the last month) today we woke up freezing. The rain was nice though and it looks like its going to be a beautiful weekend and week to follow. By the way I live in Bella Vista.
ReplyDeleteOh, how beautiful! I'm so happy you had a nice trip, Deanna. The flowers are gorgeous -- thank you for sharing at Rural Thursday this week. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots, Deanna! The first one in particular. But, then, I especially like cows and that's a pretty one.
ReplyDeleteI love that wish you were here pic. I wish I was there too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post I loved all the pictures. I loved the flowers growing through the cracks. Hopefully we will have some blooms of flowers here in NJ soon.
ReplyDeleteI certainly feel like a part Galveston! Love the cow shot and the the idea of the umbrella wish I was there! The flower u are not familiar with is a hibiscus. Hawaii is full of them! I have a few bushes in my yard that bloom red flowers. Love the photos. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou might want to swing by my Blog if you get a chance. I gave you an award :)

Such beautiful photos ... and memories ... from your Galveston trip. And I love your new "blog" look!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great time at Galveston with Kim........oh to have blooms like that at this time of year in the garden! Even that little vinca looks well growing out of the crack in the pavement.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great time there with Kim. Even that little vinca growing out of the pavement looks well despite growing in such an inhospitable place.
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful shots! I can't even pick a fav! (But leaning towards 5,6, and 7.) Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful photos and linking to our Leap into Spring Challenge!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, somehow I never saw this in my feed....love all of these! And yes, everytime I drive by the cattle with the beach on the other side I think the same thing....just like finding a deer on my path (with the ocean in the background) a few Friday's ago.
ReplyDeleteOops, forgot to mention that that sunset picture . . . yep, my favorite!
