Texture Tuesday ~ The May 22, 2012 Edition plus more

It is another gorgeous day in our neighborhood, but before I go out to enjoy it I am sharing a few more pics from the Arboretum visit on Sunday morning.  We were entering the gates about 7:15 AM, the sun was beginning to shine it's magic light and I was holding my breath in anticipation of what we would find.  We headed straight for Thornhill which has a lovely garden section and we were not disappointed.  All of the peonies, roses, iris's, and more were ready to greet us, posing for their portraits quite nicely.

First up, my entry for Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday, with the theme of light.  The light from the sun shone beautifully giving all the images a lovely soft look with its early morning light. I used Kim's "Let Go" texture.  The first layer at 100% soft light, and the second layer at linear burn with 43% opacity.  I erased the texture from the flower with a brush set at 42% opacity. This beauty is called "Love in a Mist," a perfect name for a perfect flower.

I love the way the early morning light filtered through the trees...

And a tulip tree getting ready to bloom...on my!!

Even the spent peonies are lovely...

And these multi-color petals were outstanding...

Until next time....

    So much of love can be *in the mist,* can't it?
    Or in this case, in the light ;>}

  10. Absolutely beautiful. I have been wishing we had something like that around here. We have several parks and one even has a rare bird sanctuary. Been thinking about going there to see what pictures I can come with. Course if I could get up with sun and go take pictures right then I could most likely come up with a few too. Love the pictures.

  19. We had a tulip poplar tree in the yard when I was a kid, and I loved it. To see these blossoms from one of those trees really brings back memories!
