Mind Over Matter

One of the many "little" books that I have collected and added to my library has thoughts on "It's Never Too Late."  One says "It's never too late to grow old disgracefully."  Yes, it says disgracefully.  Well of course this caught my eye, because I am growing old(er), and disgracefully sounds delicious. Here is what it says.....

You are as old as your mind,
not the calendar.

(Some days I feel 12 other days 85)

Make each day a new day,
Refuse to live old days.

(sometimes it is difficult not to think about "the way it was")

Make bold plans.

(do trips to faraway places count?)

Set new personal bests.

(gotta think on this one for awhile)

Journey into the unknown with abandon.

(have you seen my closet lately?)

  1. If I'm honest with myself I'm not sure I can say it doesn't matter. :)

  2. I love all these, but the colors in the image you shared with us at Flower Art Friday are astounding. The teal of her dress and the dark fuschia petals make for such a wonderful composition. Thank you so much for linking up!

  12. Love this Deanna! I think we all struggle with growing older and how to "act." I think it boils down to doing whatever makes you happy, agree?

  18. Yes, a trip to a faraway place counts as a bold plan! Sounds like a fun book to have around. The mind over matter saying is my fave. The photos are lovely. :)

  19. I just love the philosophy of you are only as old as you feel. I do not see myself as my age now. But there are those days when my body defies me and I feel much older then my actual years and there are those times when I feel that wicked little devil on my shoulder prodding me to do something completely childish and indulge myself in it. I wonder if we never kept track and didn't have mirrors to see ourselves aging how "old" or "young" we would continue to remain.
