Smiling At Me on My Windowsill

Remember all that joy I had yesterday...well it went down the tubes today.  About 3 weeks ago I decided to make a move and get a new cable provider.  Currently I have Direct TV and have had for about 4 years.  When my Mother moved in with us she was a huge Dallas Cowboy football fan and the only way she could watch her beloved Cowboys was via Direct TV Sports Channel...thus the move to Direct TV.  Now after 4 years, with no more need to have a sports channel and the continual rising cost of cable I decided it was time to make a move.  I opted for AT&T U-Verse.  I liked the fact that you could record in one room, watch on any TV, and that it has the capability to record 4 shows at once.  Sounds ridiculous, but when that new TV season begins, I feel the need to catch all the new shows, plus keep up with the repeating ones.  And ofcourse I got a better deal when I bundled my home phone, cable & internet.  Plus I still have somewhat of a loyalty to AT&T since both my husband and I retired from there.  He is still collecting his pension and we are both still lovin' the fact our health insurance is "free"....yeah, you saw it right, free.  That was part of the "package" my husband was granted...sweet huh??!!

Well, anyway...Monday was install day.  Monday came, doorbell rang, (actually the doorbell doesn't work anymore, Toby barking is my new and improved doorbell)  nice looking young man at the front door telling me he was the technician ready to do my install.  Well, I won't bore you with the details, but this young man (altho good looking) had no clue what he was doing and spent the day wandering around the outside looking for boxes and cables etc.  After a couple of hours I suggested he call his supervisor for help.  Poor guy, he was so lost.  Anyway, he left with nothing accomplished with another install scheduled for today.  Repeat performance from Monday only this time the technician knows what he is doing, but this time he has found something wrong with the outside wiring that has to be fixed by a "repair" technician.  Oh brother....now what.  He leaves, repair technician comes about 2 hours later, fixes (I think) said problem and now the struggle to get another install technician out AGAIN tomorrow begins.  They want to re-schedule me for August 29th....what???  No, they try to bribe me with "money off" my first 6 months bills, No.  I want my service and I want it tomorrow.  Well, I guess my whinning paid off, the tech is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM.  Wonder what tomorrow will bring??  But I do have the name and the telephone number of the install technicians supervisor and I do believe he is quite aware of the screw-ups that have occurred since the beginning of this "install."  I guess it helped that I was a Service Manager and Project Manager for AT&T and I know what to say and how to say it.  You gotta have a little "moxie."  So all that joy yesterday has been a little stressed today.  But gotta keep a positive outlook, this time tomorrow night I will be sitting and watching my new AT&T U-Verse (saying that with finger's crossed).

I will have to add that there is still much joy....my mammogram came out negative (this is one time you like to hear the word negative) and I received my first postcard in the mail today from Kat's Liberate Your Art Postcard Swap and I have these pretty little black-eyed susan's smiling at me on my windowsill.  Now all of that is joyful.

Did you have a joyful day??

Until next time.....

  1. Oh, man! What an ordeal to get your cable installed. We had DirecTV years ago and once we switched to Verizon Fios I swore we'd never have satellite again. Seems every time the wind blowed it would go out! Then there was the issue with losing channels because they wanted too much money, so there'd be a stand-off. I said buh-bye to all that and never looked back. Hope your install goes smoothly tomorrow-3rd times the charm, right? Have a good weekend!

  2. I love how, after that stressful day, you still ended your post with somethings you found joyful! Love it! I did have a joyful day. My very best friend, who lives four hours from me, stopped in last night on her way home from an engagement in NYC. We stayed up very late, talked all day today before she left for home. What a nice surprise it was. What a joyful day!

  11. You do tell a great tale Deanna and can relate to your dealings with the cable or dish repairmen. I have had the pleasure of having Cox communications here fixing my problems but lucky I got my problems fixed. Oh I am keeping my fingers crossed on this last statement. :)

  13. Ugh! I hate to say that I have dealt with my fair share of ATT&T uverse service men that didn't know what they were doing. But when you get one that does it is awesome. :) Lovely flowers in the window. :)
