I Miss You Mom
This was a common sight around our house every Sunday morning while my Mom was with us. Sipping her coffee and clipping coupons from the Sunday paper. The 2nd anniversary of her death just passed and I think of her daily, miss her enormously, and so want her still with me. What a blessing it was to have her with me the last 2 1/2 years of her life. After leaving home back in the 60's (college, then marriage) I never spent more than a week at a time with her, never really knowing my Mother as I became an adult, until she came to live with us. She became more than my Mom, she became my friend, my supporter, my helpmate, my confidante. I miss her "good nights" and her "good mornings", I miss our conversations and revealing more and more of her childhood, I miss watching "Dancing With The Stars" every Monday & Tuesday nights, I miss playing Gin and Scrabble, I miss our 5:00 PM glass of wine together, I miss our shopping trips. I miss her.
In so many ways I miss her, but in other ways I am glad she was not around to see and worry, she was a number 1 worrier, the sad events that have occurred since her passing. Our family, both mine and my brother's have gone through heartbreaks and illnesses that I am grateful our Mother did not have to endure. Eventho I miss her terribly, I know it was God's plan to take her when He did and that she has re-joined my Dad. I miss you, Mom.
"It doesn't matter how old I get, whenever I see anything new or spendid, I want to call "Mom, come and take a look." ~ Helen Exley
Until next time.....
A beautiful tribute to your Mom, I know how you feel, miss mine also so much. That is one perfect quote my dear.
ReplyDeleteMothers are special.
ReplyDeleteMine has been gone for 24 years....and, I still miss her.
They live on, though..in our memories, our stories and our hearts.
BTW...love that mug. It's beautiful.
Deanna, what a lovely memorial of your Mom. I lost my mom 4 years now. Her final year she moved close by so that I could care for her and I am ever so glad she did. Watching shows together - it was like losing her again when Monk went off the air. Preparing meals. Listening to her laugh with my daughter (they had a tight bond). Moms are a wonderful thing and only made more special when given the opportunity to know them as adults.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tribute to your mom. She sounds like a lovely person.
ReplyDeleteYou've written such a beautiful post about missing your Mom - sounds like you had a wonderful relationship.
ReplyDeleteMy mom has been gone for 6 1/2 years & not a day goes by that I want to pick up the phone & say, "hey mom did you??????" So instead I talk to her from my heart & I listen quietly in my dreams for her voice.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you & sending {{{{hugs}}}}
A loving tribute to your mom, thank you for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a heart felt post my friend. Your Mom sounds like one special lady.

Beautiful, Deanna. What a treasure you had that time together. She sounds like her daughter, amazing.

I miss my mom and she's still here. Hugs to you sweet Deanna. xo
ReplyDeleteHow lovely it was that you got to spend this time that you did with your mother! At times it can be hard, but is such a blessing to have the opportunity to know your mom like this. Mothers are people that you never get over missing though. My mom died 15 years ago, and I still have the same thoughts of wanting to let her know about something. A lovely tribute that you have written here!
ReplyDeleteHi Deanna, I know just how you feel. I'm just stopping by to say how delightful your blog is. Thanks so much for sharing. I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris

ReplyDeleteMy precious Mom left me May 26, 1996. Lots of years have past but I miss her still. There just isn't anyone as important to us as our Moms.
ReplyDeleteI totally relate.

ReplyDeleteThis past spring I had the joy of having my mom move nearby. She endured a huge transition in selling our family home and transitioning, and I am so proud of her. Wishing I had not taken her for granted for so many years. You have expressed everything I am now enjoying with her. Thank you and blessings to you.
