Linking with Deb's This or That Thursday...yikes, just found out that today is the last day for Deb's This or That Thursday. She is going to focus more on her scrapbooking, but another weekly link-up has hit the proverbial dust. So sorry. Also linking to Thursday Favorite Things and Little Things on Thursday. Mellow Yellow.....
I am going to fill you up with the daffodils before they get pitched. I bought these sweet things on Monday and they are already starting to turn crisp on the ends and they never fully opened. What's with that?? Any suggestions for the proper care and feeding of daffodils to make them open up and show me their bright sunny faces?? Bright yellows are not one of my favorite things to photograph, but it makes me practice my exposure settings And you know what they say.....practice makes perfect, but perfection is only in the eyes of the beholder and if you are like me, this beholder is far from perfection, and I am not just talkin' photography.

What a charming mug - love the bright yellow! There is another Thursday linky over at littlebylittleblog.com - Kim is a fun host!
ReplyDeleteI love bright daffodils. I agree they are a little hard to photograph, too, and I don't have any advice on how to get them to last longer.... My favorite photo is your first one - great flower bokeh in the background.
ReplyDeleteyeah, i read that about deb duty on another blog. i hadn't joined in for a while, but was glad for her hosting.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree, yellow is difficult and although I do love daffodils, yellow isn't my favorite color. Well, maybe unless they are tulips, or sunflowers, and I do like yellow with pink. But then again, I think pink goes with everything! ;p
ReplyDeleteI have had the same problem with some store bought flowers too, glad they were only $4 - but my last bit of purple ruffled tulips never opened and some little sweetheart roses, drooped after two days? I do adore that mug....
Oh Deanna! What a lovely refreshing post on a my gray January morning. I love yellow. It is so full of refreshment and fun. I personally love pineapple and lemonade and daffodils on a lovely spring time bbq. I mean, I wouldn't eat the daffs, just have a nice vase of them on the table. I love being a woman and decorating the small stuff. Thank you for brightening my day! I love the daffs blurred in the background and the cup in the front all sharp and perky!
ReplyDeleteLove the cup!!!
ReplyDeleteThey look so pretty with the yellow mug, I love that. As far as caring for them, the daffs are packed and cut dry and when I was a floral designer we would soak them in water to help hydrate them before cutting and putting in arrangements.
ReplyDeleteI adore daffodils. There are so cheerful. Love your captures. Our daffodils are already starting to make an appearance in this mild January in the south.
ReplyDeleteYour photography skills are WAY perfect.........I need so much more practice than you.....I struggle greatly with all of my settings!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful set my friend.
Oh how lovely yellow post. <3
ReplyDeleteThe sunny yellow on this drear day is a great pick-me-up, even if the flowers are droopy♫ Here's my Cool Click effort: http://lore-eleven.blogspot.com/2013/01/curve-here.html
ReplyDeleteyellow can be so challenging. I had a similar problem with daffodils last Spring - they are peculiar like that. I absolutely love the composition of your first shot.
ReplyDeleteOh I love that first shot Deanna...with the yellow flowers in the DOF and that beautiful cup in the foreground. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteLovely bright cheerful daffodils, Deanna! Great DoF in the first pic. No daffodils here yet, not even in shops. Lucky you! :)
ReplyDeleteThat first shot is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteYou did a beautiful job with them despite the challenges. I have heard of putting an aspirin in the water, but I don't know if that actually works.
ReplyDeleteLove your daffodils...even crisp.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that there are many who are leaving the hosting job of memes this week....Skywatch Friday and Watery Wednesday II are losing theirs. Sad...I just started not long ago and was enjoying playing along!
Such a lovely burst of sunshine yellow!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Found you on Thursday Favorite Things! I'm kicking off a brand new blog hop on Superbowl Sunday called the Creative HomeAcre Hop! I would love to have you join the fun at:

ReplyDeleteThey look beautiful. I find Yellow hard to photograph as well. But I think you captured this perfectly..
ReplyDeleteHugs~
