Sun, glorious sun shining in the front window. I wish I could say that warmth buddied up with the sun, but when I took these photos the outside temps were 17 degrees....doesn't scream warmth does it. I am holding on to my birthday tulips as long as possible, but they are waning (ha..remember the word for the week, makes me sound brilliant, doesn't it?).
Today is Texture Tuesday over at Kim's place and at Nancy's A Rural Journal she is also hosting Tuesday Muse...both fun places to hang out....
Kim asked us, along with using at least one of her textures, to also add words to your image...either directly on the image or in the description...
Here are my entries this week. The first one above is textured with Anna from the Downton Abbey collection...
Below is 1) the original sooc and 2) desaturated and lightened using the 0303 texture and the added text.
And finally with an added action from Florabella.
My good friend, JoAnn gave me a book for my recent birthday entitled "Now You're 70 - Fun Facts for Your Generation"...and if you count backwards you know that I was born at the height of World War II. I thought it would be fun to post little tidbits about the last 70 years, some I remember, some not. But one I know we all remember is this poster of Rosie the Riveter representing several million women who excelled at jobs that were traditionally male-only, helping to build the ships, tanks, planes and guns that were needed to win the war....And after that, there was nothing stopping us women.
So not only am I going to increase our vocabulary with our 101 Words to Sound Smart...but let's discover some facts from the last 70 years.
Until next time....
i love the first shot with the light. sorry it wasn't WARM light! :)
ReplyDeleteYou would never know it was cold when you took that picture! Very warm and lovely. I also really like your rose and chick in the post below!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love the originals and the edits! I needed a dose of color today, it's another snow day!
ReplyDeleteI love the first photo. The sunshine peeking through the lovely tulips are enough to warm my heart during this cold, snowy day :)
ReplyDeletebeautiful. i can't wait to hear more bits of info. so fun. ( :
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos and I love the texture. Sun is out with us today but freezing cold still and windy. The birds are singing though so I'm hoping they are excited that spring is on its way.
ReplyDeleteI love all your shots, they are so clear. We had sun today but by the time I got out with my camera the grey, cold skies returned. Never mind, it's officially spring tomorrow??! Chel
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work. Your lovely first shot warms my soul.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tulips and I wish warmer days too, it is freaking freezing in Finland.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful, Deanna!
ReplyDeleteAlthough belated, I wish you a very Happy Birthday!
Fabulous work and I don't want to choose, just because it's impossible.
ReplyDeletethe light on that first one is wonderful, it looks like they are out in the field. Beautiful Deanna.
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, Let the Sunshine In! Love that first image, especially.
ReplyDeletethe tulips are so beautiful on their own, but with your processing they are transformed. really lovely.
ReplyDeletePerfect photo image today for Texture Tuesday.. I LOVE the first photo - it's soft and fresh looking - it's as if I am outside looking at them in the shade/sun.. Love your stories that bring history into it -- keep them coming.. Wonderful Photos taken..
ReplyDeleteHugs
Gorgeous~ I'm longing for warm weather, too. I was so happy when the sun began to shine this afternoon!
ReplyDeleteYour tulips are doing extraordinarily well. That's my big word for the day! :)
ReplyDeleteGosh I seem to have lost what I wrote....but I did say thank you for visiting my blog today..taking in Vincent and his blossom paintings. Your blog is wonderful and I can see that you have a sense of humor as well as a good photography eye. I thought for sure you were growing tulips in below freezing weather...what a green thumb. Amazing what we can get away with with our cameras. I also love your signature...a great font and name. Looks very classy. Have a great week and hopefully warm up. I am heading for Chicago tomorrow and it is very very cold there.

Oh, I'm excited to learn lots of information here!! Words, history....can't wait!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations from one 70yr old to another! Your tulips are stunning.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteFor starters - LOVE the new header (I need to pick your brain on your blog format that allows you to post large and still have stuff on the side - plus the sizing of your header...I HAVE to change up my game. Even I am bored with my same-ole, same-ole).
ReplyDeleteNow to your pictures - amazing! Now THAT is what adding texture is about. I should be sent to the black board and sternly spoken to about my lame efforts yesterday. "I will not insult the use of textures again." "I will not insult the use of textures again."...
I look forward to learning more about the last 70 years, plus the 'beef up the vocabulary' words each week.
What fun! And these images are beautiful! Even though your tulips are waning, you are no where near waning ;)
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful again, Deanna! And you know - I do love to come here and learn something new! I love reading about words and facts and quotes - thanks so much for sharing all that! Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteYou're always making your blog interesting. Beautiful pictures, big words, and now historical facts. :)
ReplyDeleteYour use of "waning" does, indeed, make you sound brilliant! I love the flower photos, the tulips are beautiful - and with the sun shining like that, it doesn't feel like 17 degrees (brrrr).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I want to be you when I grow up.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing before and after shots!! Quite amazing!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Such gorgeous photos once again. LOVE the editing you did for TT and TM...
ReplyDeleteHugs~
Those tulips just keep on giving Deanna -- gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how much beauty we get from a bunch of tulips? They just keep giving and giving ... kinda like the energizer bunny. So pretty, all of them, Deanna.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are breathtaking!!! I love just about any kind of flowers :)
