Day Two of the Two Dog Dwelling Place....Last night all 3 of us settled into bed, yes, in bed. Toby on the pillow, Cinder in a ball in the center on the right side...I always sleep on the left side of the bed, old habits never die. Toby decided he did not want to share a bed with Cinder, so early-on he jumped down and went to his corner behind the chair in the bedroom. This is not unusual, more times than not he does not sleep in bed with me. Well, sometime in the middle of the night, I guess Toby changed his mind, decided that he was not going to let some stranger sleep in bed without him, so up he jumped. Unfortunately he walked all over Cinder, which created quite a stir...some growling, a snap or two, and then at last they settled. Whew, one night gone. Cinder never moved all night which delights the heck out of me....I didn't know if she would need to get up in the middle of the night for a potty break, after all I get up EVERY night for a potty break, but not a peep.
And by the way, I think some of you think Cinder is a puppy. No, no....I made a quick and spontaneous decision to adopt Cinder, but I kept my wits when it came to asking pertinent questions like...."how old (7), all her shots (yes), house broken (yes)....so I am not completely nuts. She and Toby are practically the same age. I asked if they knew her birthday, but no, so in reality she could be Toby's
PS....if any of you have a Baker's Square within a 100 miles or so, go directly there and order their "pie of the month"....it is a

Until next time.....
Oh, I'm so glad the first night went as well as it did. Toby will probably ignore her for a while--he has his pride, after all. :-) I hope they become good pals, and I know they will bring you much joy.
ReplyDeleteI think cats are harder to merge. When my husband and I got married, it took several months for his two cats to accept my cat moving in. And our two remaining cats still don't get along very well.
oh, that stinks - the restaurant is only upper part of the USA... i went to their website ... oh, well you enjoy that pie!! sounds like an interesting evening for you ....
ReplyDelete( :
It sounds like they are beginning to settle in, Deanna.
ReplyDeleteI'll just bet that they will become fast friends.
My goodness, that pie sounds wonderful!
Heck, Deanna, my two are brother and sister and don't always get along, so I think your two will be just fine. Cinder is a doll -- Toby is just trying to figure out his new "pack" situation. :)
ReplyDeleteoh, that is good that she's older, healthy and housebroken! it'll take a little bit, but since they're boy and girl, they'll probably get along really well after a while. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad things went well with Toby's sister wife!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't wait to open this post and see how things were going with the new "brother and sister"....sounds like they are off to a pretty good start to me.....Glad you cleared up the confusion about her age as I was thinking puppy too....At least she has crossed the big milestones and will be more fun for you.....
ReplyDeleteShe is just too cute but so is Toby....before long they will be running and playing and having lots of fun....
I am glad that you had a peaceful night :) She is so cute.
ReplyDeleteWell sounds like you are making good progress, and they do look cute together! Sounds like the bed situation will go pretty well. My dogs all want to sleep right on me, so makes it a bit crowded!
ReplyDeleteOh, my, Deanna! Since you never sleep well anyhow, what difference does it make what the pups do? Good luck tonight! :-D
ReplyDeleteThat's great that things went well .... they will be inseparable before you know it!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the adjustment period is going pretty well! I did think she was a puppy, she's so darn cute!
ReplyDeleteWell, both are so darn cute! Soon enough they'll be inseparable. I want one, too - but hubby doesn't!
ReplyDeleteLuckily my dog prefers sleeping on the floor next to my side of the bed. The cats however...that's another story all together! When it's bedtime, everyone heads upstairs together and I wouldn't have it any other way!
ReplyDeleteWe will make those dogs drink the Serenity tea. Ha! Happy new addition, Deanna.
ReplyDeleteThat Cinder....i'm crushing on her!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, Deanna, she is just adorable! Schnauzer/poodle mixes are great dogs! My son has one and he is so smart and fun. I'm sure Toby's nose will be out of joint for a bit but he'll get over it and be happy for the playmate. Glad you kept your wits about you and didn't get a puppy!
ReplyDeleteI think they will settle in just fine, Toby will get use to her and she to him. Two dogs are such good company for each other.
ReplyDeleteToby looks so smart and I'm betting they will become great friends / partners in crime !!!
ReplyDeleteAwww.. They are both so cute. I am going to love hearing stories about them..
ReplyDeleteHugs~
Adorable! I imagine Toby will settle in - its probably more like bringing a new baby home - siblings generally get used to it - much better than the mistress thing!
ReplyDeleteOh no. Toby looks so sad....:(
ReplyDeleteGee, for only being together two days it sounds like they're getting along well. I bet they'll be buddies in no time. I always feel that animals need friends of their own kind too. That was so sweet of you to give Cinder a new home :)
ReplyDeleteGreat story telling shots :-).
