Arms Wide Open

I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten.

What a wonderful compilation of words by Natasha Bedingfield to begin this New Year with Kathy's meme....Songography.  I especially love the line "live your life with arms wide open" and I so subscribe to this approach to living.  Life is so short, why not make it sweet with your arms wide open.

And again, I am using my 50mm lens for taking all these shots today...semi macro as above.

And thru a screen (you think I'm going out in that stuff??)  Not today in my bathrobe, however I did shovel the walk with said bathrobe so my kids could do their thing....but I haven't tromped thru the snow....yet.

We have some awful weather ahead of us....snow is still falling and winds are picking up with predictions of windchills up to -50 below 0....oh that thought shivers my timbers.  And...to make it even worse, my granddaughter, Bailey is working today and has chosen to drive home in this....I keep pleading with her to spend the night, but she thinks her business may close tomorrow due to the weather and she wants to be home.  And my granddaughter, Brie is headed back to Iowa State to return to school, driving.....arghhh!! She tells me the roads aren't bad in Iowa and she has emergency numbers just in case something happens. Oh brother, the worrying never ends, first it's your kids, then it's your grands.

Me and the kids are sticking pretty darn close to home....I re-filled the cupboards yesterday and managed to get my car in the garage.  What?  Well, you see when I had to move my sweetie from the Memory Care facility to a nursing home this past summer, I had boxes and boxes of his possessions along with stuff  I had cleared out of my office when I did a re-do this summer, which all ended up where the car was always parked.  But with our grim weather, I really didn't want to leave my darlin' auto out, so I managed to pile, move, and shift stuff  in order to keep her out of the nasties that are comin'.  I could almost here her say..."thank you."

Have a lovely Sunday and I hope wherever you are, whatever your weather you are safe & warm.

"I used to be Snow White, but I drifted."  ~  Mae West

Until next time....

  3. I have just seen on the news the awful weather you are having. I don't know what the weather has planned for us all next but as long as our travel plans for us and loved ones are safe then all hopefully will be well. We are experiencing terrible floods and wind and it carries on I might have to buy a boat to get to work. Keep safe x

  5. Ugh...sounds like a lot of COLD weather. We're getting an Arctic Blast here, too. Not quite as Arctic as yours, though.
Hope the girls make it to where they're going.
    Stay warm.

  6. Well, my first comment vanished so here I go again! Your beautiful photos give the impression that you live in a rural area, just beautiful. That 'arms wide open' line is marvelous. The girls wll be fine. So glad your car is in the garage, it would not like that -50 any better than you do. And, yes, the Arctic blast is headed our way, too, but a bit less daunting. But we don't handle it well. Stay safe, stay home, be warm.

  7. Love your take on Unwritten. I love the idea of pencils indicating that we can try new things, and erase if we need to try a different plan. And...I love the blue mason jars! I have a couple that I adore. So, wowzers on the snow! There are a few rumors of flurries for us tomorrow below the Mason Dixon. At any rate, there will be ice. I sent hubby to the store for me to gather up a few supplies. It will be barren as everybody here will freak out and clear out the shelves.

  8. Wow!
I love that line too. How wonderful it would be if we practiced that all the time.
We are in for nasty weather too.
    51 tomorrow, and -10 on Tuesday. :-(

  9. Love the soft colors in your pencil photos. The text in the flurries photo fits the image so well, too. Stay warm. We're having crazy weather here, too. Spending lots of time by the fireplace so far this winter.
Hope your family gets safely to their destinations.

  10. Happy you and the kids are planning some inside time! Awful here in Western Michigan along the lake too. Well for that matter . . . Awful weather in your area, Indiana and on up and inside Michigan. And they say warmer temperatures next week . . . bring it on!

  12. Deanna you certainly have achieved dreamy-shots with the 50mm; what fun with that camera and lens you have. I love the blue jar and the white patterned pencils photo. The finale photo really sends the message home quite how wild that weather is outdoors. Most Mums, Grand-Mums, Great-Grand-Mums ... we probably all are well in tune with your anxious moments re their welfare. Here-in comes Jeanne's 'word' trust.

  17. Wowee - it is pretty snowy there (and I thought we had a corner on that market) - I love snow - but I'm with you - I don't like the driving part - hope your granddaughters have safe trips, I'm sure they are pretty careful.

  20. Traveling blessings to your granddaughters. Keep yourself and your kids warm, too. Those wind chills sound awful! It won't be that bad here--supposed to be wind chills below zero tomorrow, but not nearly as bad as in the midwest.

Love the look of those pencils. They're just calling you to write! :-)

  22. We share a white world now, Deanna. Love your photos - even the pencils in a soothing white. I had family traveling back home tonight after visiting for the weekend - just got the call that they made it safely. Earlier, they set out and had to return because of road closures. I wanted them to stay the night, but they water to get home. We still have three of the Grands with us. Hope it's not too cold to ski tomorrow.

  24. Oh my gosh Deanna you have got a ton of snow. I hope your granddaughters made it home safe & sound. I don't blame you for not wanting to go out in that. Sending as warm of thoughts your way as I can. It's not to bad here (no snow) and fairly decent temps although today I felt cold.
