I am trying to get back in the habit of blogging on a more regular basis, since I seemed to have lost that MOJO I was talking about earlier. I guess you have to work at your MOJO, it doesn't just re-appear like a lost shoe. It's like good habits, you have to work at those daily or you can slip into bad habits. And so it is with writing and photography, it is a practice that needs regular tending.
We did have a touch of spring last week, but Sunday the clouds rolled in with rain and much cooler temperatures and then late yesterday afternoon that dreaded four letter word returned...SNOW. The weathermen had predicted the snow, but said because the weather had warmed up, that surely it wouldn't stick. Hah, again Mother Nature fooled us. It stuck and this morning I woke up to winter white again. But....the sun is shining, and we will return to Spring later this week, albeit not warm it should be back in the 50's/60's. Springtime in Chicagoland is always fickle so this should not be a surprise to any of us. I remember the first Spring we arrived here back in the 70's, Easter Sunday was not tulips and daffodils, but snow and cold. My son with his new white pants blended nicely with the fresh fallen snow, blended yes, looked ridiculous, yes.
My Toby has been fighting an ear infection for about a week. Kids....took him to the VET last Wednesday and because it was pretty bad and the Doc couldn't quite determine exactly what the bacteria was, it (not his ear, but a swab of the crap that was oozing, have I grossed you out??) was sent to a lab for further analysis. Now on his 2nd round of antibiotics and over $400 later he is on his way back to good health. YIPES!! Thank goodness it's not contagious or I might be looking at another boatload of money for Cinder. No wonder there are so many dogs out there looking for new owners thru these adoption agencies. In these tough times, I can imagine the affordability gets too overwhelming for some. So far I have been able to disguise his meds via peanut butter, but this latest med is a topical ointment, which means getting into that sore ear. Hmm, wonder how that is going to play out.
Hoping your week is gifting you with Spring and all the newness it brings....

Until next time....
glad toby is doing better. i have one here that has a chronic infection in one ear. has been cultured, identified as a nasty strain that is antibiotic resistant, treated and continues to come back. all i hope is to keep it under control.
ReplyDeletehope spring returns quickly!
I am right there with you, I have a hard time blogging regularly. I guess because of have so few followers I am not letting anyone down really. Maybe I can start again and keep going but Ill probably take a break again and again.
ReplyDeleteHope Toby heals soon. I sympathise with the snow It doesn't help with that mojo .
ReplyDeleteUmm, yes ... about that four-letter word ... Did you really have to share it with your friends down 'South' {I am south of the Mason-Dixon line, so that's 'South'.} We got snow, too, which has melted but ... freeze warnings for overnight just as my dogwood trees have started blooming. :( Well, so sorry to hear about Mr. Toby ... but you would have paid ten times that amount had it been required. I'm glad it wasn't and I hope this wonder drug does the trick. Yes, I think you're right: blogging, like photography is a habit, not a mojo at all. Glad to have you back, whatever it is.
ReplyDeleteI've been struggling with my blogging mojo lately too. I think you've got it though ... sometimes you just have to "just do it"! Poor Toby! Our little pup is prone to ear infections too. I think Winter dumped a little snow everywhere! We had some overnight. Have a lovely week, Deanna! xo
ReplyDeleteUgh on the snow- I hope you get a nice warm up soonest. Poor Toby! Maybe this ointment will do the trick, but I agree with you on the affordability of animal health care...it's pretty outrageous.
ReplyDeletePoor pup! Hope he gets well soon and the snow goes and stays away!!
ReplyDeleteOh, poor Toby! I am glad he is doing better though, Deanna.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are feeling better about your MOJO too! :-)
Love your first photos with the texture, and Toby is so adorable. :)
ReplyDeletePoor Toby! Deanna, when I was little, I used to get earache and my Dad blew White Owl cigar smoke in my ear. Maybe you could give that a try? Oh - you'd rather use the ointment?
ReplyDeleteI had a post about my mojo a couple weeks ago. It comes and goes. It's definitely a discipline to post more regularly. Glad to see you and sweet little Toby.
ReplyDelete...stick with your writing/photography and blogging it all Deanna; I love your posts and I would miss them if you dropped out. Your weather has been so fickle. The east coast Australia has had quite a lot of rain of late, but this morning there has been sunshine, so I've been out in the garden, and enjoying it because it's not so darn hot anymore. Hope your little Toby responds well to the anti-biotic too. ps - don't give up on your mojo :)
ReplyDeleteI hope Toby feels better soon. Poor baby. We are getting cold here, too. Tonight there's a freeze warning, so I'm worried about my little fragile plants. :-) Love the colors in the first photo.
ReplyDeleteThey are predicting more of that four letter word here in Minnesota tonight and tomorrow but farther north and east from where I live. I hope poor Toby is better soon. I would love to have a dog or cat but I can hardly pay my own medical bills.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear Toby's infection is under control and he's doing well. Delightful image of those tiny heart shaped flowers, they are called "Broken Hearts" here in Holland and I'm still looking to get some white ones.
ReplyDeletePoor Toby, hope he feels better soon. Those ear infections can sure get them down.
ReplyDeletePoor Toby. And your poor budget! I knot just how that is with my two yorkshires. Your photos are lovely! Good to see you here friend!
ReplyDeleteDeanna, I just have to say that I love your writing! It typically get a chuckle or a smile from your frank yet sincere words. And you photography? Rocks. Hope your baby is better soon!
ReplyDeletePoor little fella. No fun having a sick pup. I heard you guys got snow again and I thought about you.. Mother Nature is messing with you guys.
ReplyDeleteI definitely have ups and downs with my blog. I sometime think its because I have been blogging to long. But I LOVE my blog. I read an article the in a Somerset Life magazine. The article was called "Fall in Love with your Blog again". Not that the article helped. But it got me thinking how can I fall in Love with my blog again???
Anywhooo.. Love your photos my friend.
Hugs~
I know what you mean, with the blogging. I'm doing the Project 365, and it seems that taking, editing and posting that daily photo, is all I can get done.
ReplyDeleteNeed some catching up.
Hope Toby is feeling much better, very soon. No fun, to have sick 'kids'.
You and I have been drinking from the same well - despite the forecast of snow this week, I simply refused to believe - even as it blew the crap down upon us, I tried my damndest to look the other way. To some extent, it worked for me - but clearly not for you - that, my lady, is too much snow for mid-April. Oh and poor Toby - I am glad the medicine is working and the infection is not contagious. You are so right about VET bills - heck, medical treatment of any nature kicks the budget in the kester.
ReplyDeleteI feel that spring will never come and it makes blogging less than fun too...Wisconsin is sepia colored. Oh, I know it will get better soon! I hear you about the vet...such wonderful companions with human size doctor bills. We give our dogs a little Kefir of yogurt to help with yeast infections. possibly an old wives tale, but so far so good! Hope Toby feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, snow again! No wonder you don't have your MOJO! Poor little Toby...too bad the vet's these days are so expensive. The things we do for our beloved animal companions...xo karen
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard when our pets get sick. And I am so sorry you have more snow. But you my dear have not lost your MOJO!
ReplyDeleteOh, poor Toby!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand your MOJO dilemma. I too lost mine for quite some time. I have really only returned to blogging regularly over the last week after having a break for a few months and only posting a couple of times before then. I'm not sure I have it back entirely but I am making myslef share all the moments I have managed to capture without sharing earlier this year. :)
