About Me

Hi, my name is Deanna. My husband passed away in September of 2017 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's  I am a mother of two children, Lisa who lives about 45 miles west of me and a son, Lane who lives about 2,000 miles west of me.  I live in a western suburb of Chicago after growing up in Texas and living in Kentucky for the 1st 10 years of married life.  Lisa and Lane are both married and Lisa has given me my 3 grandchildren, all of whom are grown themselves. Brandon who is now married to Hilary and is the father of my two great grandchildren Matilda Mae and Winn Wilder (pictured above, I'm the one in the middle)  Bailey who has graduated from college and is now in the working world living in Omaha, NB. Brie has also graduated from college and has moved to Colorado where she works for an Emergency Vet.   Time moves very swiftly and I know that there is much more of my life behind me than in front of me and because of that I try and embrace each and everyday.

I began my photography journey as a creative outlet when my husband's Alzheimer's was beginning to deteriorate.  I needed to find something that I could do while still being with him.  I bought myself my first Nikon almost 8 years ago and immediately signed up for an on-line class on photography and how to use my camera.  This led to my blog which is almost 6 years running, and in turn has led me to so many new wonderful friends thru this grand world of photography and blogging.

I have enjoyed this new found passion of photography and writing and cherish your visits and lovely comments.  You keep me on this journey thru your kind comments and good wishes.  Thank you for visiting, I so appreciate you dropping by my corner of the world.

  1. It is so nice to "meet" you - we all travel different paths and it is interesting to learn more about each blogger. You are encouragement to me in the way you live your life.

  3. Hi Deanna,
I am starting a page of Facebook called Road Crossings (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Road-Crossings/202582949922431) and would like to use one of your photos. I live the photo and what you wrote. These are my thoughts exactly about crosses on the side of the road. I've wanted to create this page for a long time, but kept putting it off. Please have a look and let me know if this is ok. If so, please let me know where this photo was taken so I can make note. I see you are in Illinois, I lived in Oswego.

  4. This blog world is very amazing and I have seen you about leaving comments on a few blogs I follow. Then just today I saw that Kelly posted that she had a collaboration blog and had posted something there and there you are, a part of that wonderful project as well. So rather than just notice your profile picture here or there leaving comments on pages we both like, I figured it was time to visit you for myself. Your photography talent is beautiful. I love what I see so far. Your story is touching, your love of photography as a tool in healing inspires me. Today I'm going to begin to follow you too.

  5. Hi Deanna! I am taking Kim Klassen's class along with you and others. You are the first blogger who linked up, so I am here to visit. Reading your bio, it was both touching, and inspiring. I know two families dealing with Alzheimers right now, and it is heart breaking. You are also inspiring because dealing with such loss, you have found or maybe just added to your creative self. Blessings to you. Looking forward to seeing your work!
