Oh Did It Snow....

Yessirrebob...it snowed and snowed and then snowed some more.

Ahhh...fresh snow to taste.  Remember that snow ice cream that Mom used to make when we were kids?  Growing up in Texas snow ice cream was a rare treat since Texas is pretty stingy with snow storms.  Kinda like what we have experienced here in the midwest for the last two years, except ofcourse, until yesterday.  When my kids were little the word was "don't eat the snow, the dangerous particles that float around in the sky has contaminated it"...oh boo hoo, so since I didn't want to contaminate my kids, no snow ice cream for them.

As the weary working people were fighting their way home from work in all that snow....I was enjoying my tulips, some fresh bean soup and a corn muffin (one of the two muffins that I bought at the grocery store, the chocolate one had been devoured earlier in the day).  Now you see how I can appreciate the snow more than others.  It was a "didn't step my foot out the door kinda day for me".  I did my fair share of tromping in the snow when I was in the "working world"....I can remember crossing those bridges in downtown Chicago when the wind-chill factor was -20...I did my due diligence, now it's warm bean soup and tulips.

Wonder what in the world this was used for....too small for barn or house sitting in the middle of a field...I know you must think this is pretty random what with the post being about snow etc, but I wanted to link to Madge's Rurality Blog Hop and none of the above shots resembled anything close to rural.  So, OK?

Reminder to self....Easter will be here in 3 1/2 weeks.

Gotta go....Bible Study and I am not dressed yet.

Until next time....

  6. Love your photos today! I especially like the "rurality" shot. Love the texture that makes it look like a beautiful painting. Well, looking at that snow makes me realize that we are in for it tomorrow. Allegedly, we have between 8 and 16 inches coming.

  7. Such wonderful shots of Toby playing the snow; obviously he loves it....He is such a beautiful dog and I know you must enjoy all of his antics...The lunch shot is so welcoming and soup is always perfect on a "stay in" day. Love the texture you used on your rural shot. I wonder if that building is a smoke house. We have them all over in the south and it's where they hang meat like ham to process.

I hope your Bible study was insightful and be safe with all that snow....

  9. Yes. I do believe you got some snow. Toby seems to love it all.

Being a 'Texas Girl' myself, I do remember those rare snow days, and the snow ice cream. Yum...

Glad you were able to stay inside.

I love that texture. Makes the photo look like a painting.

  10. Toby looks delightful in all that snow. The bird bath reminded me of a giant glass handled door knob. Love all your images, as always. You have such a pleasing style. Enjoy your bean soup and tulips! You've earned that.

  12. well you and me are 'on the same page' Deanna when you start your post with Yessirrebob. You'll have to remind me though 'his' name, you've caught me unawares but I do certainly remember him and can see his face and that phrase was a winner, always made me laugh. LOVED the snow photographs; gosh you sure must have to rug up when going out. And do you need snow-tyres to drive with?

  20. Oh, I do love all these shots! What IS it with dogs and snow? Do the noses dive in of their own accord, "Hey! Where's the smell I'm used to here?" or is it the sensation? The joy of something different? And I love your table! The reds: bowl, the spoon, tablecloth, and, of course, the tulips! And the rural shot! And the bunny! What a fun post! (And I love your flowers from the previous post, too.

  21. Not only is God stingy with snow in Texas, but He has also held out the rain!!! We need some praying for us down here before we dry up and turn to dust!!!

Your puppy is adorable with that snow on his nose!!! What a darling picture!

Where did you get your checkered spoon? And the polka dot bowl? I have red, white and black in my kitchen and would love to buy some of those!!! And I adore your vase with the cherries, too!!! And those tulips are to die for!!! I some too!
