After Cinder arrived home, Toby was, to say the least, a little taken aback by this new entry into his only "dog in the house" world. Much like a big brother feels with a not-so-welcomed new little baby sister into his only child world. I could see the look on Toby's face time after time...."when is she leaving??" When can I go back to being your only "sweet pea?" fyi, I have a strong tendency to call my kids sweet peas. This made me feel a little guilty for bringing Cinder home since Toby had been my main squeeze for 7 years. So I tried and continue to try hard to give each one equal lovin'.
The kids (aka dogs) are getting along a little better these days. Toby has tried playing with Cinder, but she is definitely a non-playing dog. Toby is the house defender...whenever anyone walks by he lets them know by his bark or should I say continuous bark, that this is his property no ifs ands or buts about it. He is not vicious, nor would he ever bite anyone, in fact when visitors open the gate and enter Toby's domain, he runs in the opposite direction. Really quite funny. Cinder follows in his heels, quite literally. She has also learned the art of home defense only her bark is more of a high-pitched yip, actually a shrill is more the term. I am sure our neighbors are thrilled with my new addition.
I love my kids, they have brought me joy beyond belief, they fill my empty home with their love and affection, I am blessed to have these beings in my life....for them I am grateful!!
Quickly....5 random things
- I am off to have lunch with my Bailey (my oldest granddaughter) today. Love having her work so close.
- Went to a lovely luncheon and book review earlier this week at the home of one of the members. Great lunch and I am definitely buying the book that was reviewed "Give The Lady What She Wants" the story of Marshall Field. Since Marshall Field was such a huge part of Chicago's history and the retail world, the reviewer teased us with just the right amount of information to entice us to read the entire book.
- I made another trip to the Arboretum yesterday, the leaves are still glorious and I wanted to take advantage of their last glow before they disappear for 5 or 6 months.
- I am having issues with my cell phone. The cell phone does nothing but vibrate. I have ring-tones set for messages & actual phone calls, but it does nothing but vibrate. Must remember to have Bailey look at it, maybe she can figure out what's wrong, or else a stop at the Verizon store. Sometimes those "smart" phones are too smart for us non-smart "mature" ladies.
- And issues with my computer....new, too slow, what's wrong?? After lunch today I am going to Best Buy and buy more RAM, maybe that will help.

Until next time.....
good luck with the technology issues. cinder found a GREAT home to live out her days - even if toby is still not ecstatic that she's there. :)
ReplyDeletehi Deanna. she is adorable. The autumn shot is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteNo I can't resist that sweet face of Cinder, she so cute. Love the pendant with her name on it. Dogs are great companions and they love you unconditionally.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute little doggy with the sparkly eyes.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you couldn't resist that precious little face. I refer to all our furbabies as "the kids", too!
DeleteCinder is a lucky little girl indeed. I would have been hard pressed to resist adopting her. Such a sweet, sweet face. I think you and Toby are pretty fortunate also.
ReplyDeleteSweet Deanna, you never talk too much! What you have to share is always so interesting. And besides, your lovely photos provide pauses in the monologue. :-D Cinder ... well, I thought I couldn't wait to meet Toby but I have to tell you, I'm partial to smaller dogs and Cinder fits that bill. Not to mention those goo-goo eyes she has.
ReplyDeleteCinder is just adorable! I wish you luck with your phone and computer...I seem to be losing what little lead I had on technology lately and get easily frustrated when things don't work.
ReplyDeleteCinder is one lucky little puppy!!!
ReplyDeleteThat book sounds quite interesting .... I may have to look it up.
Have an awesome weekend!
On your phone check on the side where the volume buttons are it will be a little rectangle button, see if you see orange on the side if so, slide it up and that is the reason you have no sound on the iphone. that is the off switch for the volume of everything. It is easy for that to happen ask me how I know that!
ReplyDeleteOh my those leaves I want to walk there, so gorgeous and you know what I think of your kids.
your days are filled with charm with your two sweet-peas as you say Deanna; your photographs are beautiful; enjoy your weekend. I'd have loved the walk in the arboretum
ReplyDeleteWe brought a little rescue dog into our home 7 years ago, it took awhile, but our older dog got to be good friends with him. Our older dog passed away last year. We are so glad to have our Bugsy...he makes us smile. We hoped to visit the arboretum the last time we visited our kids, but we ran out of time. Your photo is beautiful. I had cell phone and computer issues this past year. Not fun.
ReplyDeleteYour new little girl is just so darling! It is fun I think having more than one dog, but they can tend to vye for attention. So wonderful to have your granddaughter close and able to stop by for lunches. What fun!
ReplyDeleteThis shot of the arboretum and the trees is just a wonderfull scene, and so sorry that it will be gone so soon, and snow taking its place. Also will download that book on my nook. I love Marshall field, and was so sad when Macy's took over the loop store. I always loved going to Marshall Fields, and it is not the same anymore.
Oh, and when you have a problem with something like your phone... just google the question.. GOOGLE knows all. I have never thought up a question that I could not find the answer to on google.
ReplyDeleteAwwww Deanna, she is such a precious little one.
ReplyDeleteHow fortunate that you found each other.
Have a wonderful weekend!
I agree, it's futile to resist that face! OMGosh, she is so precious. What I would give to have non-shedding dogs, but I love them anyway. Next dog, tho, seriously has to be a non-shedder! But they usually grab my heart before I have a chance to think about those things. :)
ReplyDeleteYour Cinder is too precious. I know exactly what you are experiencing with introducing a new member to the household. Oh the stories I could tell from cats to kids. Your leaf filled walk is stunning.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend and hope you get the phone issue figured out. (they can sometimes get too smart for their own good!)
Oh my goodness, what a little punkin she is. I would have completely melted just looking at her too. Meshing pet's hearts is a tough process. We have had Brutus (our lab) for almost four years now, and our three cats still don't like him. He is so incredibly gentle with them and would love nothing more than to be their friend, but they are pretty persnickety. So, he tends to get more belly rubs to make up for hurt feelings. Oh....our fur kids. Have a lovely weekend Deanna.
ReplyDeleteThere aren't many doggy faces I can resist and Cinder is adorable! I remember going downtown to take my kids to see the Marshall Fields Christmas windows - yeah, that was before Macys took over the world. Good luck with all that technology!
ReplyDeleteCinder's face just melts my heart! And those big eyes, my goodness. Of course you took her home! Sounds like she's bringing you much joy. And making Toby's life so much more interesting :)
ReplyDeleteCinder is such a little cutie pie! I can see why you feel in love with each her. I think God put you in each other's paths. I have two cats, both of which shed horribly, but I overlook it since they're so funny and bring so much joy to my world.
ReplyDeleteLove that fall photo! All of our leaves are laying on the ground now. Wish fall would've lasted a bit longer. Hope you have a good weekend!
Aw! Those big, expressive eyes! So adorable! So glad you have two sweet companions to keep you company. Pets give so much unconditional love. I could do with a non-shedding pet - daily vacuuming and mopping is what keeps me busy. But I wouldn't trade the extra work for anything...Lovely photo of Autumn. Hope you have a beautiful weekend. xo
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have been able to resist her either. She's a sweetheart!
ReplyDeleteThat book sounds super interesting. Must check that out. Is your phone an iPhone? I had the same problem with mine last spring, had to go to the Apple store and since it was under warranty I got a new one. Something was wrong with the volume button/setting.
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable. And life is too short to resist adorable.
ReplyDeleteAhhh.. Those are such sweet photos of your Cinder. I am so glad to hear they are getting along better. When I have trouble with my cell phone I always ask my daughter for help. The younger generation is so good with working on these new fangle phones.
ReplyDeleteHugs~
Cinder is a cutie!!
ReplyDeleteLucky you, lucky Cinder and Toby. I really miss not having a dog. My husband really enjoys the freedom of a no-pet family! I'll have to enjoy yours.
