Bokeh
The marigolds are still blooming and look so much like Fall with their bright golds and rusts. Thought that spattering of bokeh in the background added interesting highlights to the flower.
Process of Elimination
I think I followed the directions on this prompt. At least I read the instructions, now whether this is exactly what I was supposed to do is another story.
Statue
There are many, many statues around town that I thought about, but the one statue that truly means something to me is this little sweetheart. She was given to us by our daughter, Lisa on our wedding anniversary almost 10 years ago and has a special place in my garden where she scatters her joy to all who walks near.
Flying High
You can't really tell how high this hawk is, but it was perched near the top of the water tower that is very near my neighbor's backyard. Now...my neighbor is raising chickens for their beautiful, tasty, fresh eggs. The hawk has now discovered these fair ladies and has decided to keep an eye on them for any possible chance he may get to swoop down and help himself to one of those New Hampshire Reds. Right now he is still flying high and has not attempted any capture, but those eyes tell me he is just waiting for the right time.
Remember
We do not need reminders to remember what happened 10 years ago today. I imagine you remember exactly where you were and what you were doing when the worst single event that has ever happened to our country occurred. That evening we went to church to pray, to light candles, to remember those who had lost their lives that day. Shortly thereafter, a new feeling swept over the American people. The American flag was proudly displayed from homes, to churches, to buildings, decorating the sides of cars & trucks, everywhere you looked the red, white and blue reminded us of who we were, proud and never to be defeated, Americans. There was a feeling of kindness, compassion, a willingness to help all that needed our help. It felt good to hold hands, to smile at a perfect stranger, to give a donation to the Red Cross because we were all Americans, proud of our country. No, we do not need a reminder to remember, but we do need a reminder to continue to help those that need our help, smile at perfect strangers, give what you can to organizations that continue to give to those in times of trouble. And to pray and light a candle for those that gave their lives that day and all the days and months and years that followed 9/11. God Bless America.
"Patriotism is not short, frenzied outbursts of emotion, but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime."
~ Adlai Stevenson
Until next time.....

Beautiful sentiments about 9/11 and I concur whole-heartedly. That process of elimination shot is amazing! The beauty of that flower is totallly lost in your SOOC shot, it isn't until you edited it that all the intracisies are apparently. Great job! And I adore your flag photo. Love your selection of crop and the bokehs in the background! I might just take you up on trading wine and chocolate for a bokey tutorial :) Great collection.
