My Answer Is Always No

Perusing thru blogs lately I am beginning to notice that spring is making her appearance with daffodils pushing thru the soft earth, buds beginning to open on bare limbs, and grass turning that soft light green.  Unfortunately for me, only thru other's eyes can I begin to enjoy those signs of spring.  My eyes are still seeing the browns, greys, and tans.  However, the sun has been showing her face a lot more in recent days which as Martha says, is a good thing.  The drabness of winter brings me to thoughts of appreciation of what's to come.  I have been asked more than once..."would you move to a climate where the sun shines most of the time and the days are always warm?"  My answer is always a "no".  I admit a few more warm days and a lot more sunshine would be ideal, but I don't think I want it all the time.  The appreciation of what's to come would diminish and basking in those glorious days of warmth and sunshine would become just an everyday occurrence.  You can't have the joy without the sorrow.

My blog is usually filled with color but today I fill it with the hues of winter with anticipation of the pleasurable color-filled days of spring.

  1. These are beautiful! There is such beauty in winter! I really never noticed or appreciated that fact until I began photography about a year ago with Picture Winter. Wow, were my eyes opened!! I love how you found such beauty!!

  2. I agree. I would not want to live where it is warm all of the time. The changing of the seasons is such a blessing. This mild winter has been hard on me. Spring is right around the corner, and I feel like I'm still waiting for winter. The seasons have sort of all blended together this year, and time has traveled so fast! I hope spring holds off just a bit!

  3. I am so with you Deanna. Yes, I gripe about the cold. But I don't think I'd appreciate the spring and summer as much if I didn't have the fall and winter :). Gorgeous photos.

  4. We don't really ever feel winter, or fall for that matter. It's pretty much just hot and humid year round, with the occasional cold evening. I would LOVE to experience the seasons like most everybody else, but too much of anything (heat, snow) isn't fun. I still think fall would be my favorite season though. It just looks so pretty and cozy.

    Nice photos, by the way.

  5. We are still most definitely in the brown and gray stage too.
Without the snow, it's been this way for several months now. :-(
    Hopefully spring will come early.

This is a beautiful series of photographs. I especially love the third one. Such wonderful simplicity!

Thank you so much for sharing with us today at The Creative Exchange.

    Have a great evening!

  8. We have had so much rain lately that the grass in nearly all green and we are already having to mow - which is even early for us here. I love living on the gulf coast, we still lose leaves, get a little color, and spring is still just as glorious but I don't have to worry about snow. (Although it does mean no snow pics - It got replaced with sand) ; )

But sometimes we don't get to choose, God plants us where he wants us!

I love the photos Deanna, beautiful!

  10. It's somewhat of a necessity to adopt this attitude when you live in the northern plains. What else can you do? :)

Gorgeous photos -- I especially like the curled leaf. Well done.

  13. I, for one, would gladly move somewhere with sunnier and warmer days...winter makes me feel depressed. Your photos are absolutely gorgeous, Deanna! You really have a way with textures. The one of the leaf is my favorite. Did you change your blog around? For some reason, the whole thing isn't fitting on my screen now.

  15. I so agree with you, I love that the warmer months bring an abundance of photographic possibilities, but I would never want to give up the change of seasons.

  16. I don't think I would be able to move to a sunny all year round place either. While I enjoy the sunshine and the warmth it brings, I also love the snow and the peacefulness it brings.

  17. These monochromatic images are just great! I love the tans and browns for a change. When texturized they're even better. I lived in Vegas for 5 years where it was sunny almost every day and I just LOVED it after 20 years in Seattle where it is gray almost every day. I did miss the change of season in Vegas, but I adapted to the different viewpoint of beauty and came to love the desert landscape and plants. Now I'm back in Seattle, drizzle, gray and yet green at the same time. Just different, not better.

  18. These photos are so beautiful, Deanna! Wonderful processing, too! I guess I would say no, too. Although I would love to live in a warmer climate (and there is not the slightest sign of spring here yet), I do cherish the change of the seasons!

  23. Absolutely Gorgeous Photo's here. - I live in a climate where we get all 4 seasons (sometimes they are short lived) but we get them and I wouldn't trade living here either. - Except maybe when we get an over abundance of winter snow and then I might rethink that just for a second or two!
