The skies were blue, the clouds were that gorgeous puffy white with tints of lavender, the camera batteries were charged, the SD cards were empty, the gas tank was full and I was on my way to enjoy a "Sunday drive in the country." It's too bad most people seem to be in such a hurry on a Sunday afternoon, in such a hurry that there were many times I wanted to pull over to the side of the rode to snap a shot of something I spied, but a car was so close on my "tail" that if I stopped, there would definitely be an accident report to be filed.
We have been blessed this year with an extra-long Fall...but I knew that this week would surely mean the end of most of the colors. And looking out the window this morning confirms that fact. The wind is blowing with the leaves whirling about, falling quickly from the branches that held them since early Spring. How quickly we march from Season to Season. But yesterday was a photographer's dream day. I decided to return to Redbud Creek Farm, a nursery in Sheridan, IL about a 45 to 50 minute drive, plopped in the middle of the countryside which I knew should be stunning. I was on the look-out for some barns since I haven't been on a barning trip lately. Since I had to move my husband from the Memory Care Facility to a nursing home, my barn trips have been few & far between. Not only do I miss the Memory Care Facility, but I also miss those drives I relished after my visits. Unfortunately I didn't see many camera worthy barns (not only am I a pumpkin snob, but I must be a barn snob too...snort) and a couple that I did see, the car on my tail prevented me from stopping.
Today my gratefulness is all about my Sunday drive....there were so many sweet shots that I have combined a few of my favs in this collage provided by my blogging friend, Barb from "Keeping With The Times"....she is talented & generous and shares her talents with us all....and for that I too am grateful.
And btw (by the way), those shoes I have on in the leaf image are the best....they are Sketchers Go Walk, the most comfortable shoes I own. Last month at book club our hostess had on a pair in grey and someone complimented her on shoes...she told us then how comfortable they were. So me, always looking for comfort immediately went out and bought 2 pair, black & white, and thinking about adding another color or two. They come in a ton of colors and fabrics. You will be grateful I told you about them.

Until next time.....
very nice collage! besides your feet in the leaves, my favorite is the long road ahead. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely collage of autumn awesomeness!
ReplyDeleteI go for Sunday drives too! (o:
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely collage this is deanna! I was just admiring your shoes when I see you said what they are. Very comfy looking. Your post brought me back to my childhood, when It was one of my fathers favorite things to take a Sunday afternoon drive out in the country. I think that this is something fun to do alone, as there is no one who gets frustrated with my wanting to stop every 2 minutes for an unforgettable photo. Love your specific gratitudes..... Have a blessed Monday!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful collection of fall.
ReplyDeleteYou may not have found many barns, but what you did find is might nice! :)
ReplyDeleteI love those long Sunday afternoon drives and obviously it was a perfect day for you to get some awesome shots....Love the shoes; I will definitely be checking them out...Great minds must think alike as I did a collage today too.....I hope your week is full of some fun and lots of clicking....
ReplyDeleteAwesome captures! It is a great time of the year to journey around.
ReplyDeleteDid you get all of these fabulous shots on yesterday's trip? If so - I would call that a banner crop of photos. I remember getting gruffy and snarky and shouting "Sunday Driver" when I would get behind someone slow (possibly as recent as a week ago - gulp!) - but since going through the whole 'teach your teen to drive' experience, I have developed a greater appreciation for backing off and considering the person in front (until they are indeed going 'snail' slow and then I "gently" urge them to "get the lead out!").
ReplyDeletebeautiful collage and an uplifting post, you are good at this combining the bitter sweet with the bright, always enjoy dropping by...
ReplyDeleteI really need to take a similar road trip -- before all of the color is gone. Really liked the presentation Deanna. xo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Autumn collage, Deanna! You've captured so many sweet shots. I agree ... people seem to always be rushing! They're missing so much. :) Have a lovely week! xo
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful collection of 'autumn'! And don't you love that storyboard of Barb's? I have a pair of Go Walks and they are hands down the most comfortable shoes I own. They're on my feet now.
ReplyDeleteYou got some lovely photos even if you couldn't stop every time you wanted to! Too bad people can't slow down and see the beauty of the countryside.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful collage! You really captured the uniqueness of autumn in the country. I love the lonely road photo, and the one with your feet in the pretty leaves. Thanks for telling us about the shoes--I, too, go for comfort, and I need some new shoes--badly!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful autumn collage! I know what you mean about Sunday drives - I have to pass by so many beautiful sights without stopping. I'm sitting at OHare right now nd really wish I had emailed you. I didn't expect to have this extra bit of time after an extremely busy weekend. Anyway - I'm thinking about you here in Chicagoland and am thankful to have "met" you through blogging.
ReplyDeleteOh, my! So much beauty around you. Love the long road shot with the gorgeous clouds. YUM! I am going to look for those shoes. Thanks for the recommendation!
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled to see that you used my template for your gorgeous images! Thank you, Deanna! I am going to keep my eye out for those shoes - and I love the photo of them in the leaves!
ReplyDeleteOh I love them all- and I can certainly relate to tail-riders when I am trying to look for cool barns or scenery. People do not want to slow down, so I usually just keep pulling over and letting them pass. Love your shoes!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful mosaic this is, Deanna, and guess what???
ReplyDeleteI have those very same shoes, and I love them too! :-)
Could not wear them today though.
It is sooooooo cold here. Brrrrr.
Oh my! That was a more than beautiful Sunday drive.
ReplyDeleteSo many lovely images in your collage which by the way is put together beautifully!
I've already Googled the Go Walks. I see lots of styles too. They may well be on my Christmas list.:)
What a beautiful drive you had, so many pictures even with the car on your tail.
ReplyDeleteI can't stand the people that ride your butt when you are trying to look for beautiful things to photograph. Grrrr!! I am a bit of a barn snob too, and I really like the ones not near houses.
ReplyDeleteHI Deanne Wonderful well thought out collage
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had the perfect Sunday afternoon except of the drivers that were in a hurry. I see you got some great shots.
ReplyDeleteHugs~
Isn't Barb great?! Beautiful shots, my fave is the middle left. Our fall is just starting!
