Flutter By...Butterfly

Oh my, I am so far behind in my blog posts and commenting on all my blog buddies posts it is almost embarrassing.  I arrived back to the cold and snow Friday evening to temps in the single digits followed by bunches of more snow on Saturday.  Last year all I did was yearn for snow, and now this year....ok, just slap me.  But meanwhile I have some absolutely lovely photos of our trip to the Butterfly Garden.  It is a new attraction in the Phoenix area with plans for an added aquarium to be built within the next year.  Another site to look forward to when I return.

Prior to entering the garden we were treated to a 3D film on the flight and life of the Monarch Butterfly, that alone was worth the price of the ticket.  And then we entered the doors to the garden....oh what a delight.  Hundreds of butterflies flying free, landing on flowers and plants, sidewalks and benches, on your back, in your hair, on your arm....everywhere.

Today was her birthday and everyone told her it was good luck day when a butterfly landed on your hand.  Sounds good to me.

Wonder what it means to have one land in your hair, your back, your arms, your shoulders??....I had them all over me, everywhere except my hand.

A literal wonderland of beauty......

"Beautiful and graceful, varied and enchanting, small but approachable, butterflies lead you to the sunny side of life.  And everyone deserves a little sunshine."  ~Jeffrey Glassberg

Until next time....

  3. Wonderful and absolutely beautiful photographs.

A few hours away from where you live you can find the Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, Michigan and they also have a butterfly garden. Plus many, many other gardens.
It is also a gorgeous center.

  8. These are just so beautiful and so many I didn't get a picture of when I was there, Terri told me there were more than when we were there. They are so gorgeous just flying by on everything. You really captured them beautifully.
Sorry you had to go back so soon wish you could have just been dropped off and then I could have picked you up and brought you up here for another week. Oh we did have fun so we have to be grateful. :) Have a good week.

  19. Love seeing this magical place through your eyes! You do feel like you've been dropped into an amazing world when you walk through this place and I was so happy there were so many the day we were there. But as beautiful as all of your photos are, what strikes me when I read this post is the way you always find a child to photograph in any setting you're in. You talk to them (you even found out that it was her birthday!) and capture them in a way that speaks volumes about how much you love children, and really people in general. It's one of the things I love most about you, my friend. Thanks for sharing these -- makes me feel like I'm back among the butterflies!

We have a butterfly conservatory here, and it is wonderful to go there on a cold winter day.
It feels like you are on a tropical island, and the butterflies are so beautiful.

  26. Oh my goodness, these are beautiful! When I look out at the vast white snow in my yard, it is hard to believe butterflies will once again grace the yard with their color. I cannot wait!

  27. You are not the only one being so far behind in blog posts and commenting on other blogs ;) but when I visited you, there were lots of Ohhh's and Ahhhh's... so many gorgeous butterflies!
Snow is still nowhere to be found in the Netherlands and I'm confused because of the Spring temperatures. I don't know if I have to wish for snow or to hope for Spring to arrive early.
