Along with my word for the year being "YES", help definitely is needed to succeed in whatever I attempt. And right now I am attempting to put the house back in shape after the holidays. Yesterday, I opened the coat closet (which is the smallest coat closet ever...when they built this house didn't they realize that coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and purses, yeah purses, are a major commodity in the Chicago area??) and realized that I couldn't fit one more thing into it and it was a MESS. So began my first step in organization. I have a pile of 18 purses, 9 coats, 6 scarves and 4 hats to donate. In the scheme of things that may not seem like much, but it sure helped in making room for those that I kept. No longer are there 2 coats on one hanger. Oh and I threw away approximately 10 single gloves, not pairs, singles. Washing machines eat socks, so do you suppose closets eat gloves??
So after all that organization (whew) I treated myself to this.....
And just because it's Monday and I like linking up with Tricia's Barn Charm at Bluff Area Daily (because I really do love barns) here is one from last Spring (with an added texture)....
Have a great 1st Monday of the New Year....
"I am still far from what I want to be. but with God's help I will succeed." ~ Vincent Van Gogh
Until next time....
laughing at your self treat. i drove into dallas to put up with crowds and hoity-toity shoppers this weekend and treated myself to souper salad afterwards w/ TWO desserts. :)
ReplyDeleteWell you had me at Downton Abbey and that Sunday, YUMMY! I loved the first epidsode in Downton, did you?
ReplyDeletenice barn. i loved Downton Abbey last night. i was shocked that it was a 2 hours long though. loved every moment. i would love to live in those days. the outfits are fabulous!! wish you well on organizing. i'm right there with you. i love when things are all nice & clean. in their proper place. when you can find things. the missing socks are such an issue in this family. it is nuts!! are our dryers really that hungry??! don't they have anything better to do ... like DRY THE CLOTHES. ha. ha!! enjoy your week. ( :
ReplyDeleteYour creativity and energy astound me. I soooo love the flowers w/pink tones, and pink ice cream with chocolate tones!
ReplyDeleteLove your heading pictures....love that you, too, cannot resist sweets, love that you have too many coats and purses and one gloves. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, even I feel better now that you have your closet reorganized! I love getting rid of STUFF! I'm so sad - we don't get Downton Abbey - we watched the series on video (love it). Have a wonderful day,Deanna!
ReplyDeletea lovely post Deanna and I think most of us can equate to your getting rid of 'stuff' that takes over our lives. It really seems like such a big chore to contemplate and year after year it sits, achieving zilch. I need that kick, shove myself, so many places I need to do what you've done. I start, and then I sit back ---------- and forget about it again. Out of sight, out of mind kind of thing. Well done Deanna!
ReplyDeleteOMGosh....too much to watch on TV last night, so glad I have a DVR! But I DID watch Downton Abbey right away and didn't record it. Man oh man, do I love Shirley MacLaine! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! I think we all deserve a delicious treat after putting away all those holiday decorations :) We've been tackling clutter at our house too. Such a drag, but it feels so good when it's done.
ReplyDeleteI love to get organized and donate! Yay for you. Downton Abbey...I've taped it and can't wait to watch. Beautiful barn/silo. Happy Monday to you, Deanna!
ReplyDeleteI haven't as yet picked a word for the year. Been too busy the last couple of weeks to think about the rest of the year. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm gaining lbs just looking at that yummy sundae!
Congrats on getting the closet organized. I do know this year I want to organize everything better.
Love your edit of the barn shot! That silo is lovely against the sky.
Deanna....Beautiful testure work. It is such a delicate and pretty addition to the original image. Nice job. genie
ReplyDeleteNice texture on that barn. And yes, closets eat gloves. At least mine does. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have one of these closets, Deanna, except mine eats boots!
ReplyDeleteLoved this post, and thank you for the smiles.
xo.
Your barn photo is beautiful. Oh my, I must be the only person not watching Downtown Abbey. I guess I'm going to have to check it out. I hate to be left out ;) I am so impressed you are cleaning out closets, I haven't even taken down my Christmas decorations, sigh.
ReplyDeleteI need the same kind of help!
ReplyDeleteI love the barn and the texture.
Love the barn, silos and even the old fence!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had your energy to clean closets. I sit down for a treat half way through and never get back at it. :)
Oh boy, I don't even want to think about cleaning closets - mine are sooooo overdue! Peppermint stick ice cream with chocolate on top and Downton Abbey? - is there a better combination than that!?! Nope - I cannot possibly be any help whatsoever. The barn is great, though, I love the colors and the texture makes it look like a painting - so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI did a major coat and sweater donation after Hurricane Sandy. My closet is great and there's even room to hang up coats when people come to visit. My next challenge are old pocketbooks. They need to go, but I keep thinking I might use them. Delusion! That sundae looks so good. That would be my reward, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the barn photo. I've been going through some old photos from the past and I can't find some I know I had. That's frustrating! The treat looks good!
ReplyDeleteLovely textured picture of an old barn and silo!
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing with my closet though I only found 2 single gloves. I did find several pair to donate. I've got to go through my purses as well but I don't have quite (ahem) 18. My favorite ice cream in all this world is peppermint with either chocolate jimmies (sprinkles) or really good hot fudge. And I did have one yesterday, maybe it was even at the same time as you!
ReplyDeleteNow you have me wanting to count my purses! Don't we always save singles because we're SURE the mate will turn up - someday? Peppermint ice cream is my downfall - I can't help you, Deanna!
ReplyDeleteOh, I have closets like that...especially with no basements! I was feeling pretty accomplished the other day just putting away the tree AND I cleaned off the small bartop. Now I'm ready to start tackling some more...baby steps, right? Love that first image, and always love me a barn.
ReplyDeleteWell good for you, getting all organized for the new year. I know I always feel better when I am all organized. Love your barn photo. Your editing looks amazing my friend.
ReplyDeleteHugs~
Deanna! Yes! Closets eat gloves as well as car glove compartments and school lockers. hahahahha. That Ice Cream is so yummmmmy looking. So you are getting back at me for all the chocolate cake mountains I posted last week, huh?
ReplyDeleteI read your post among others, first because you said 'HELP' with a wilting rose and then I find it is just about a closet disaster. Stop it! hahaha.
Downton Abbey is not for me. I am too busy blogging or publishing or some such non-sense. Take care, sweet! (hug)
Love your barn photo and the editing! I've been trying to organize things too. I've been concentrating on all the junk that has accumulated around, behind, under, next to, and in my desk area. Way too much!! I like your reward for a job well done, but I'm afraid I would have went back for seconds.....
ReplyDeleteLove all the golden colors in this barn photo. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteCloset cleanout...ughh. Don't even want to ponder on that right now. I'm pretending to be oblivious to the mess.
ReplyDeleteFor a treat like that, I might just tackle my closet!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had any ice cream in ages, sounds good, but I don't do sweets... they make me sick to my belly! =0
ReplyDeleteThe barn is great & the texture is perfect... I love your photography style, very bright, clear & beautiful! =)
Thank you so much for joining, Deanna! =)
Now I am wanting ice cream! Yum! LOVE your barn and silo, and the texture is perfect!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog, every time I come here, your photos and sense of humor amaze me...
