Dear Rain....I may regret this come July and August, but enough already. It rained again last night, so no watering of newly planted flowers, bushes or tree. I do so love the look of green grass which without the rain begins to turn brown, so I guess I should re-word and say, keep raining, only maybe not quite so frequently (ie: everyday).
Dear Anderson's Bookshop, thank you for continuing to prosper as an independent bookstore in my town eventho there is a 2 story Barnes & Noble just 2 blocks away. You bring us readers fun events like you did on Wednesday evening. Random House Rep Night is an evening with 3 reps from Random House who review the latest releases both in hard-cover and paper-back, children, fiction & non-fiction books. If you are a book lover like myself this is like manna from heaven. Not only that, I was one of the lucky one's that won a new book. PARIS by Edward Rutherford...a hefty book, perfect for summer reading.
Dear Birds, you definitely bring me pleasure with your tweets, & chirps & sing song voices.
Dear Lane, thank you for the Amazon Gift Card....I used it to buy 2 brand spankin' new bird feeders, advertised as squirrel proof. We will see, sometimes those squirrels are smarter than the manufacturers. They sure ate right out of the last "squirrel proof" bird feeder with absolutely no problem.
Dear Lilacs, thank you for your brief appearance. I enjoyed your aroma while it lasted.
And I would love for you to visit my collaborative blog, Focusing On Life, where I am musing on "Staying Young".

Until next time....
loved your little sparrows. good luck w/ the squirrel-proof! i don't even try...
ReplyDeleteand i'll take your RAIN!
Lovely lovely photos - especially the birds. Great blog!!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your letters. :-) Good luck with the new bird feeder. And the photo of the red petals--absolutely stunning.
ReplyDeleteHope the rain didn't interfere with your patio construction. I so admire locally owned establishments, especially book stores (even though I'm an e-book reader now). Lovely photos as always!
ReplyDeletethe white bird feeder is lovely, sweet flower photos, the first one is stunning. Paris by ER is noted, thanks for the idea. I will definitely drop by Focusing on Life, sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteSquirrel proof! Lol. I'm sure every time those squirrels see our new, improved 'squirrel proof' feeders, they think... Oh what foolish humans!
ReplyDeleteYes! I am an enormous book lover. I should clarify that i'm not enormous, but my love of books is. :). Here in Portland, OR, we have one of the best independent booksellers.. Piwell's Books! Fabulous!
That's.. Powell's. Lol
ReplyDeleteThe book evenings sound great ~ I'm still an old fashioned book reader, I like to hold a paper book in my hand, smell the ink, turn pages ... Even if there would be a kindle version available! The squirrel feeder is a sweet idea - the squirrels at my mm's house come and eat from the bird house - it was great fun seeing them running back and forth, with their rapid movements...
ReplyDeletei'm looking for a good book to read myself ... nothing as of yet. have a good weekend. ( :
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rain; it may decide not to show up when needed! Congrats on winning a book!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post :) I do hope you get a reprieve from the rain soon, I am sure some sunshine would be nice. We have had a lot of wind and it's very hard to do anything outside when you're hanging onto everything for fear of blowing away. The book nights sound lovely. I do love books - the touch and smell of a book is simply wonderful. I have a tendency to stay up late at night reading...my eyes will probably kill me when I am older.
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful weekend!
Hugs to you!
Squirrel proof- I will believe that when I see it LOL I do not think we mere mortals can outsmart a squirrel when it comes to stealing goodies from a bird feeder.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pics! I think independent bookstores are precious commodities. I can remember when Tatnuck Booksellers in Worcester closed its doors, I actually cried. I loved that place! Hope you get some sunshine between the raindrops!
ReplyDeleteLook on the bright side, Deanna - it's rain - not snow. I keep hoping the white stuff will turn to rain! My lilacs just started blooming in Denver - late this year, but much welcomed.
ReplyDeleteLucky you -- I'm always swooning over new bird feeders. I hope yours prove to be squirrel proof!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your lovely photos and random facts, Deanna. Always a pleasure.
what a wonderful book shop! my daughter and i would definitely be on a first name basis with the owner if we lived in your town. beautiful photos, deanna!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots! -and you are so lucky to have a local bookseller ;)
ReplyDeleteOur local bookstore put a Barnes out of business a few years ago! Way to go local!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful depth of color in that first flower shot! and love your bird house. The rain has made everything so beautiful... but hoping for a little less rain by the time I get to Illinois!
ReplyDeleteDear Deanna, Thank you for your delightful blog that brings joy to our lives! xo
ReplyDeleteI love the lilacs.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images and a lovely post.
ReplyDeleteOh 2 bookshops so close to you riches and an independent one as well...i'm sorry but I don't think there is such a thing as a squirrel proof feeder, let me know how you get on ....
ReplyDeleteWonderful post from start to finish. The Lilac photo was just so dreamy looking.
ReplyDeleteWonderful post. I love the red flowers and the Lilacs. They're gorgeous. Have a super Sunday.
ReplyDeleteCindy :)
How very exquisite your photos are. :)
ReplyDeleteLet's hope June is brighter! Lovely shots there, our lilac is just coming now but is few on blooms, I think it's a rest year for many of our flowers.
