The lady that lives next door has a rather large apple tree in her side yard. She never picks the apples, rather lets the branches get so heavy with these little red orbs that they are usually dragging the ground which in turn attracts the Canada geese. Now Canada geese seem to love these little red apples but not only do they leave the mess of the half eaten apples but they leave "their" mess, if you know what I mean, which creates a rather nasty area. I walked over this afternoon and gathered a few apples just for a photo shoot, well, I told you she never picks them, and it's only the geese I am taking from....believe me, there are more than enough to go around. The geese will definitely not starve just because I took a handful.
Even tho the apples are ripening on the trees and the kiddos have gone back to school, the weather is definitely still summertime. We are in for a heat wave for at least the next 10 or more days, up in the 90's each day with very little rain predicted. I know a lot of schools have air-conditioning, but I know there are probably just as many that don't. Poor kids, I am thinkin' I am sorta glad I am not a kid in school right now in one of those schools without air-conditioning. But now that I think about it, I grew up in Dallas, where hot was the norm pretty much through October, and our schools definitely did not have air-conditioning and somehow we managed....I say this as my air just kicked on and I can feel the coolness hit the back of my neck.....yeah, I'll say it again, glad I am not a kid in school right now.

Joining Kim for Texture Tuesday....
Until next time.....
I need to find me a neighbor with a fruit tree for sure...love being able to still have the branch and leaves attached. And...well...the schools here do have A/C now, thank goodness, with the feel like temps well over 100 these days!! It's pretty quiet here at my house today...the first day my girl didn't come home at 3:00...quiet AND sad today!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are up and that you were well enough to take pictures at least. I can't even watch the cooking channel because I get hungry let alone look at a magazine with food in it. The apples look delish as well as the photography. My granddaughter has been back to school for 2 weeks and this would have been her third week but she got sick with a fever and cold on Friday so my daughter kept her home today. Something is going around. Too early for such nonsense.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are on the mend! I think you made perfectly good use of the apples. After all, art and beauty both have their places. We're in for our hottest stretch this summer as well.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful apples! So glad to hear you're making progress towards full health!
ReplyDeleteglad to hear you're feeling better!! and those apples...so photogenic. lovely that the geese saved some for you. ;)
ReplyDeleteYEAH to being vertical!!! Those apples...ohhhh i wish i could click my heals and be outta CA and someplace on my dream farm..which btw WOULD have an apple tree!
ReplyDeleteglad you're getting back to normal - yes, i know that relieved feeling when you have milk, bread, cereal, fruit, stuff for dinner again. :)
ReplyDeletewish i had that apple tree - next door or at my own place. my horses would love them, too!
I'm glad you feel like being vertical again! Isn't it amazing how good a shower and hair wash can make you feel after being under the weather?
ReplyDeleteThe apples are so clear in your photos, I was sure I could reach through and pick one. Sadly, I couldn't. :-) But the photos are really pretty!
Glad you are feeling better and are out and about taking pictures and going grocery shopping. I love the picture of the apple hanging on the tree.
ReplyDeleteWe are having that horrible heat and humidity here too and no rain. The kids here don't go back to school until next week.
I'm so glad you're now vertical! Yeah - pinterest while hungry - I agree, not the best idea. My daughter is a teacher in a Chicago classroom without air conditioning - I feel for her. Happy grocery shopping!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well, but glad things are looking up. And beautiful photos as always! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your photos of the apples. The U.P. where my daughter is, is getting this heat too, which is so funny since most of the summer they were lucky if they got into the 70's. Their apartment definitely does not have AC, but I told her in January she will miss this heat. I look forward to a lovely September.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are back on the road again.....vertical is always better♥
ReplyDeleteYou know I love your apple shots!!! I am glad you took some. Those geese can be so messy. I am glad you are back on your feet. I have been out of the loop the past few days. I hope you get better real soon.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're up and around.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos.
I think I see a sure sign you are getting back to normal...food is on your mind. And I agree with you, grocery shopping is not my favorite thing to do either but oh well we do have to eat don't we....The photo shoot with the apples is wonderful....I love the processing and the vignettes you created...
ReplyDeleteTake it easy and don't overdo....Hugs.
Oh our apples are already falling but they don't look as lovely as your neighbours, it reminds me though I must take some shots of my apples...
ReplyDeletePerfection
ReplyDeleteHappy you are feeling better Deanna.
ReplyDeleteGlad you felt like venturing out, even if to take apples from God's creatures. But you redeemed yourself...the images are awesome!
ReplyDeleteLove the shots of the apples, those geese really do create a mess don't they. Your textured image is just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThey look so pretty. I love the way old apple trees look. We have canadian geese that fly over to the sea all the time now. They do make a mess in the park
ReplyDeleteWell I'm happy you are feeling much better and even had the time to gather a few of these apples and create such lovely works of art with them.
ReplyDeleteI love apple picking time and your photos are so sweet. Glad you are up and getting around once more. :) xo
ReplyDeleteLovely red apples, they look so juicy, yum! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're feeling better, Deanna! xo
Beautiful images. Those apples are good photo subjects!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I don't teach anymore. The temps in my inner city classroom used to get to over 100 and the windows wouldn't work.
Only you, Deanna, can make an apple look so pretty! Beautiful photos, as always!! And yes, I'm so glad I'm not in school now, too. It's so hot here. Back when I was in school, it didn't start until after Labor Day and I don't remember it being so unbearably hot then.
ReplyDeleteWhat a waste to leave the apples. Imagine all the crumbles and pies not to mention chutneys that the woman could have! My kids go back to school next week and their uniform is black which absorbs the heat. My daughter is always moaning at the head teacher and asking who the clown was who designed it! Take care. Chel x
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear you're feeling better!! I have to confess my husband and I stole some apricots off of a strangers tree. There were so many we didn't think they would mind. It kinda looked like an abandoned house anyway. Boy they were yummy!
ReplyDeleteHugs~
Love that apple in that green bowl. Just perfection
