Christmas???

I can't believe that I am actually thinking Christmas this early.  I know some of you probably have your Christmas shopping complete and packages wrapped and I certainly envy that tenacity, but remember I have that sign in my kitchen that says "Procrastinate Now".  Actually I am thinking more in the line of making some gifts with my bazillion photographs.  My friend, Marti has asked me to join her "art/craft" show in November with some of my photographs made into cards etc. and I thought 2013 Calendars with my photography would be a good choice.  I have been searching all of the digital web sites for 2013 calendar templates....if you have ever made one from scratch you know why I am looking for templates.  They are slowly beginning to make an appearance, hopefully by Oct 1st many will burst upon the scene.

Right now my plans are to make 3 different picture calendars....Barns, Flowers, and Tea Cups/Mugs.  I have many, many, many pictures of all of these subjects.  Here is my first attempt....This is an 8 1/2 x11, not huge, but not so small that you can't hang it.  Feedback welcome.

I have been glued to the TV set this week, checking out all the new shows on the scene.  And with Dancing With the Stars running for 2 nights at 2 hours a piece, that takes a big chunk out of the evening. And in my opinion (spoiler alert if you haven't watched it yet) Pamela Anderson so deserved to go home, she really didn't even deserve to be there with all those excellent dancers....just sayin'.  I have been taping them all so I can at least zip thru the commercials.  Last night I watched Ben & Kate, The Mindy Project...not sure about either one of these.  Neither one brought an outloud laugh from me.  I also watched Vegas, the new one with Dennis Quaid as a 1960 ish sheriff in Las Vegas.  Interesting, will wait till I watch at least one more before I decide if this will become a "must watch" for me.  How about you, have you watched any new shows that you consider a "must watch" yet??

OK, must run, almost time for another new one..."Animal Practice" about a vet that can talk to the animals....hoping it's a good one since I do love animals.

PS....piles are still in place, Bible Study, lunch with a friend, and shopping with a little photography on the way home keeps those piles from disappearing.

"If it weren't for the fact that the refrigerator and the television are so far apart, some of us wouldn't get any exercise at all."  ~  Joey Adams

Until next time....

  6. These will make a beautiful calendar, Deanna! Who wouldn't want one for Christmas. Just one suggestion...you need to change the one with the flag to July, instead of August. Maybe you've noticed that already.

  7. Oh who cares about the piles...at least you are having fun. I absolutely love the barn calendar....it is awesome!!! Perfect photo choices and colors! We watched Ben and Kate last night....I agree...didn't find me laughing much. I do like the "New Normal"...it is pretty 'hip' and funny. Wonderful work on your calendar, can't wait to see your other creations.

  8. I think your themes are really good Deanna, broad interest in each of them. I have done calendars of my grands all though not lately as presents and the parents really liked them. They are time consuming and yes a template for sure. I have been there done that with creating one and it takes a lot of time for sure.

As far as the new shows, I agree about DWTS and finding the two nights a bore in some respects and usually tape them to wiz through the bits I don't care to watch over again such as the second night. So drawn out IMO.

Love Castle one of my favorite shows, Parenthood I like but find it hard to watch at times because they always seem to be talking over each other and find that annoying but I still tape it and keep up. The Middle I thought was good last night and Love Modern Family, that one cracks me up every time. Not new shows I know. I have watched I think the start of Revolation and enjoyed the first one but still not sure it will be a keeper for me. I forgot to tape Vegas, will watch next week. Oh another not new show I don't miss is Harry's Law. I still have a lot on tape to go through, not enough time for me right now.

Good luck with your project, always nice to have a project to dive into.

  9. Those calendars are absolutely beautiful. So far I have stuck with my old favorites and that is plenty enough TV for me.

  12. What a great idea AND a wonderful gift for someone to receive. I've been toying with this idea too. Either this or perhaps notecards. I better get a move on tho, haha.

  15. Thanks for the great idea of using photography as Christmas gifts. Methinks I will be doing the same! The holidays will be here before we know it, so this is very timely. I hadn't really even thought about it yet. Guess I was waiting for the first cool snap which we haven't received yet. I think I've seen most of your barns, tea cups and flowers, so those calendars are going to be a hit!

  16. Your photos are always so wonderful, so I think making calenders and cards sounds like a great idea! The one you've put together so far has looks so good...I love all those beautiful barns. I would maybe take the words "February Memories" off of that one photo though since that's one only month that has writing on the picture. I've thought about doing cards or something of the sort too, it's just finding the time to put that idea into motion.

I haven't watched too many shows lately. I must say that I really love The Voice though, mostly because all the judges are nice and get along well with each other. I did watch Dancing With the Stars the first night it was on...boy, was Pamela Anderson horrible. I was kind of surprised that she was even on there actually.

  17. Your calendar is beautiful. I bet that they will sell well and that anyone that receives one as a gift will feel honored.
I was disappointed with Castle. Why are they hiding their relationship?

  18. I love the calendar, Deanna! Beauiful choices from your barn collection.

I have been thinking about putting together a book of my photos as a Christmas gift to the Hubby. A documentation of 2012's highlights and photos. I was thinking about going through snapfish, any suggestions?

  19. Your calendars are absolutely outstanding, Deanna - great work! I can't comment on the shows - I don't watch TV (except for the Y&R - how cheesy is that?!)

  20. Anybody would be lucky to have a calendar with these barns!!! Where do you get them printed up? And no.... I just want to enjoy fall first!
