A Little Spring, A Little TV, A Little Petunia
As much as I totally enjoyed Arizona with the blue skies, the cool nights, the warmth of the days, the blooming cactus, what Arizona doesn't have that we have here in the midwest is our gorgeous spring flowers...our tulips, our ranunculus, our daffodils, our forsythia.
I gotta admit that the above were purchased at Trader's Joes but as I drove to Bible Study this morning I noticed all the daffodils that were nodding their heads, and the forsythia that has recently bloomed.
It has been raining for most of the day, I mean really raining...I'll change that to pouring and as I looked out the front window in the afternoon there were little riverlets all over the front yard which translates to extremely muddy feet for Toby. Thank goodness he is small enough that I can pick him up and take him directly to the kitchen sink for clean-up. I don't envy those with large dogs on days like today. I guess I could switch to cats and not worry about muddy clean-ups. but then who would bark at the mailman if I switched to cats?
Surely with all this rain and perhaps a little warmth we might have these in bloom soon.....
And then the lilacs and the crabapples and the quince and the bleeding hearts....oh be still my heart. We are already a month behind in our blooms from last year, so the waiting is stretching my patience, Madam Mother Nature. Get busy and give us our Spring colors, please.
Been trying to catch up on my taped TV shows that I missed while in Arizona (never turned the TV on while there)....Dancing With The Stars???, not real excited about this year. Gotta admit the women far outshine the men and it's a cinch that one of them will take home that Miraball trophy. Still watching "The Following" with Kevin Bacon. Not nearly as creepy as it began, intense, but not creepy. It will be interesting to see how this season will end. I have lost interest in some shows....Nashville, Grey's Anatomy, but have them on tape just in case I want to have a marathon weekend of catch-up. A show not to be missed is "Call the Midwife" on PBS. A BBC Production, it takes place in the east end of London in the 1950's about a group of women, that live and work in a convent, caring for and helping in the delivery of the babies of the very prolific pregnant population of women in this extremely poor area of London. It can get quite graphic at times during the deliveries, but you gotta admire these women that dedicate their lives to helping Mother's bring their babies into the world with less than perfect birthing surroundings and to boot, their only means of transportation is bicycles. This is the 2nd season, I encourage you to catch up and join in...they are a delightful group of women, both the nurses and the nuns, all with their own individual stories.
Hope you have a great evening and I'm thinkin' Spring is right around the corner for us all. Altho I think the snow has to melt in some areas first.
Oh, and fyi....today is the birthday of Petunia Pig....you remember her? she was the love interest to Porky Pig. She first appeared in a cartoon with Daffy Duck and Elmer Fudd in 1937. Happy Birthday, Petunia, you are 76 years old today....oh sorry, ladies sometimes don't like to reveal their ages.
Until next time....
