Letters on Friday - May 3, 2013

Dear God, thank you for bringing me and Toby home safely from our trip to Dayton, OH, 6 hours down and  6 hours back.

Dear Dog Car Harness, maybe Toby wasn't that crazy about you, but I think you are a life-saver in more ways than one. You kept Toby safely strapped in the front seat while I was able to drive without him sitting on my lap perhaps causing an accident.

Dear Spring, thank you for arriving (finally) and boy are you purty!!  With your pinks....

Your purples....

Your yellows....

Your whites.....

Your reds....

Your fresh greens....

Dear "The Following", OMG what a way to end this season, do you really think Joe Carroll is dead??

Dear Over-Head Fans, thank you for sending soft breezes overhead making it possible to be comfortable sleeping as the weather begins to warm.  I think I remember reading that over-head fans are "out" when it comes to decorating....huh??   The decorator trend setters obviously have not slept with a post menopausal woman who still gets too warm in the nights.

Dear Warm Weather, thanks for returning, it has brightened up our world.

Please follow me over to my collaborative blog....Focusing On Life where I am musing on "like".

Until next time.....

  1. Thank You for sharing the beauty of spring, Deanna. I keep looking for buds and blooms, but it is just to cold here. It might be to dry too.

Keep up the wonderful pictures, they make my day!

What!!! Overhead fans are "out"!!! What do they know! Let them try to sleep in this oven without one come August!

  13. So happy to see your spring photos my friend. They are beautiful. Here on the road we don't get the fox channel so I missed the last show of The Following. But we can watch it on our computer on Monday. I can't wait.

    Happy Friday my friend.

  14. I just want you to know that your website brings me so much joy! I'm just a random college girl in California, but I somehow stumbled upon your blog one day last year, and ever since then I've had so much fun looking at your pictures and reading your encouraging messages.
Thank you so much for sharing them!

  16. I am glad that spring has come to you! Those flower photos are stunning. The first one--the pink one--is a study in delicacy. Love it!

I depend on my overhead fan in the bedroom this time of year. I wake up soooooo hot some nights and need that air to lull me back to sleep.

    Glad your trip was safe!

  17. Absolutely gorgeous photos Deanna! Spring is divine. :).

And i'm all for overhead fans. Especially these days. Who cares what the decorators say? Lol. My husband's new nickname for me is 'Flash'.. and it's not 'cause i'm speedy!

Have a beautiful, colorful Spring weekend..

  18. Your spring is truly gorgeous! It hasn't come here yet. Maybe next week. As for over-head fans, I love them. I have one in my kitchen and one in the bedroom. They let me keep the windows open and I don't have to run the air condition as much.

    Have a beautiful weekend!

  19. The decorators need to have to live in Texas without a ceiling fan....you'd just die....or you'd pay your monthly salary to TXU....or whoever your electric provider is. The electric companies must be behind that, paying off the decorators. They can say what they want to about them, but we are keeping and then replacing ours....forever.

    Love your pictures, as always.

  20. Deanna, your flower photos are just so very very beautiful! I love my overhead fans and guess I don't much care what a decorator has to say about them. I am so happy that you had a safe journey to Dayton and back. Have a wonderful weekend!

  21. So glad spring has sprung in your neighborhood...I so enjoyed our chat yesterday!

  22. Absolutely gorgeous spring photos! I am with you on overhead fans. I cringe whenever they take them out of houses on HGTV especially when the houses are in the south. Comfort trumps design in the case of ceiling fans, IMHO.

  24. Dear Deanna, Thank you for giving me hope that spring might come yet!

  26. So the dog harness really works? I think Libbi the Wonder Dog would go even more insane if I strapped her in.
I'm just as happy as you to have the warmer temps back too!
    Happy weekend my dear!

  27. I like the idea of a pet harness - not sure how Ike would take to one though. Glad you had a safe and enjoyable trip. I am loving these flowers - and for some reason, and totally digging the whites this Spring. As for over-head fans - they will never go out of style as far as I am concerned. Mine runs all year and my husband is totally okay with extra blankets on his side - a decorator's nightmare.

  28. Spring is looking mighty wonderful in your area! Look at all your pretty flowers. I sure can't wait to see some of that around here.

  29. Traveling with pets can be a challenge but sounds like you and Toby found the perfect solution.....So glad you had a fun trip and it looks like from your gorgeous pictures that Spring had arrived while you were away...
As for this southern girl, ceiling fans are here to stay...I don't want to even think about life without them....
I hope you ave a wonderful weekend....

  30. Such gorgeous photos! Really love that last one! Oh, honey, I live in the North and still need a ceiling fan! I guess that gives my age away, huh? I bought a harness for my Whitey, too. It is perfect! Otherwise I have a 60 lb dog in my lap! There are so many wonderful pet products these days. Glad you and Toby are home safe! Enjoy your weekend! xx

  32. So with ya on the over head fans. Might be a decorating faux pas, but I say phooey? I need my breeze :)

  33. Wow ... these are all so gorgeous, Deanna!! I can so relate about the need for a ceiling fan, too, or any fan for that matter these days ... I rather prefer the ceiling fans, just wish we had one!! We have the decorative 'standing' fan that helps me get through those 'warm' nights! lol! I'm visiting you from the 'Floral Love' link-up! Have a happy weekend! :)
