It is Coming......

Well, the kids are back in school, Labor Day is upon us, and shortly the leaves will begin their yearly burst of oranges, reds & yellows.  I gotta admit that I have a hard time choosing between spring and fall as my two favorite times of the year.  Altho based on the fact that winter follows fall I will have to go with spring.  We all know I did quite a bit of moaning and groaning last year, alright let's call it like it really was, I bitched about the long, cold & snowy winter and I keep hearing that it will repeat again this year.  So prepare yourself for more bitchin' if that does indeed come to fruition.  I just hope that I handle it with a little more grace than I did last year.  A great way to handle it would be to leave for a warmer climate....say January thru March but that ain't gonna happen.

OK, enough already....one indication that Fall is quickly approaching are the little crab apples that are constantly dropping off of the tree in my side yard.  Now if I was really ambitious maybe I could use these little fruits in a jelly or jam but instead I will just use them as props for a photo.

I love this little hand-painted cup.  My Dad's sister was an artist and she painted this in 1962, over 50 years ago.  I love that I have a rememberance of her and her talent.  PS...the reason that bokeh looks so weird is that I took this on my back porch and that is the screening in the background.

Another reminder is the latest blooming hosta is now sprouting her final show

And finally, and this has absolutely nothing to do with fall....the kids went to the beauty shop and got their hair and nails done.  Aren't they adorable.  I just love those two....

And one last thing....I am joining Good Fences, TexWisGirl's weekly meme.  I know this isn't much of a fence, but I promise it is, an 8 foot one that obviously is used by many a bird to perch on.   And again this has absolutely nothing to do with Fall except that the sparrows never leave, Fall or Winter they stay no matter what.  I wonder if they bitched as much as I did last year??

"But the struggles make you stronger and the changes make you wise...And happiness has its own way of taking its sweet time. " ~ Gary Allen

Until next time.....

  8. I've heard the same thing about Winter. Not looking forward to that at all! But it's not here yet so I'm going to enjoy every single minute of Fall! The leaves are already starting to change colour here and some are beginning to fall. Much too soon!

Your little mug is so adorable and has such a lovely history!

Enjoy this last bit of Summer!

  9. Delightful photos Deanna. The little bird perched on the ragged edge of the fence is so sweet. Toby and Cinder are adorable as always & looking might spiffy. Awesome cup, how neat it was hand painted and a sweet memory of your relative. I'm with you about winter although I heard that the Farmers Almanac predicts a milder winter for the west, I'm hoping that is true.

  13. You always take the sweetest photos! I just love the crab-apples in the hand painted cup - what a lovely keepsake. We don't blame you for bitchin' about last winter - you got hit hard. Darling little pups - love those faces.

  14. We had a dose of fall this week with morning temps of 48*-50* for three days. Yesterday's high was 79*, We'll take it! I will admit that doing early morning cattle work when it's 50* makes me call on my winter snow pants, even in August.

The crab apple cup and picture are gorgeous and I always enjoy seeing picts of your kiddos!

    Have a wonderful weekend, Deanna.

  15. I'm trying not to think about winter too. I was a bit of a complainer last year. We aren't going away either...starting a list of things to do to keep me occupied!

Your sparrow photo is sooo beautiful, and I love your cup too.
I need much more "solar energy" before the loooong Scottish winter ahead. Yep!

I am SO ready for Fall. We really haven't had that bad a summer, but for some reason I've felt it more. Age, maybe?
    Have a great weekend.

  20. Your two dogs are really adorable and looking very spiffy. I just got an Oster nail groomer for the awful, ragged nails of our beagle mix. We'll see how that works. I won't even try to do the cats' claws. Love that handpainted mug - so pretty filled with crabapples. The little sparrow looks happy perched on that fence.

  21. That cup is gorgeous. Love the fur-babies, they are so cute. I just commented this evening when I noticed that our front tree is already starting to drop leaves - "it's coming, winter is just around the corner, don't be fooled by these 90+ degree days". I don't think anyone paid any attention to me.

    Enjoy your weekend.

  23. The kids look great! Let's hope the winter isn't quite as bad as last year. We will just need to come up with some creative things to do instead of complaining about it :)
