Time is a Tickin'

Are you like me and when you look at the calendar you think..."oh there is plenty of time to get prepared for whatever..." and then all of a sudden you look again and all the "plenty" has turned into "not very much."  Today is Monday and then tomorrow will be Friday and the day after that will be Thanksgiving.  OMG...!!

Thanksgiving is celebrated here with my daughter's family, all six of them.  Next weekend will be the first time Brie (my youngest granddaughter) will be home from college since leaving in August.  She has had a pretty rough go this semester with sickness...started out the year with a bad cold and missed the first day of school and now has Whooping Cough, missing several days this past week.  If I am sick all I want is to crawl into my own bed, not some college dorm or apartment with many other students.  Brie is making progress, but not without meds and rest.  She is going to have to scurry to complete her assignments prior to coming home for the Thanksgiving Break. Any extra prayers for her would be appreciated for her speedy recovery.

This year, along with the preparations for the family Thanksgiving meal, I will also be having a Christmas photo shoot with my daughter's family.  We are trying to decide where and and what attire to wear.  I saw a great shot today of a family leaning, standing, sitting on a fence all wearing jeans, red plaids & navy blue with it snowing.  I think I can find the fence, get everyone to wear jeans & red plaids, but the snow might be a problem.  Thanksgiving is tricky here, it could be mild and sunny or snowy and cold.  Tough to plan an outdoor photo shoot.

Then prior to this I promised to have a framed piece of my photography for our Annual Advent Tea raffle for our church.  I have really fretted about this...what size, what image how to frame it??  And that must be done by Sunday.  As I stated at the beginning of this post...the time has reached the "not very much".

I could do a print like this.....

or a rose print...

Or a fall leaf....

I think all photographer's go thru this, picking just one.  Don't you agree??

Well, must go, have too much to do and time is a tickin'.

"Don't say you don't have enough time.  You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Theresa, Leonardo DaVinci, Thomas Jefferson and Albert Einstein."  ~  H. Jackson Brown Jr.

Until next time....

  3. Yes, time - it keeps flowing onward even when I drag my feet. Hope your granddaughter recovers soon. No good to be away from home and sick. I'll be doing a family Christmas shoot for my son's family over T-giving too. Just keeping 4 sets of little eyes looking one way and not having undue motion blur is often what I hope for.

  4. The first one gets my vote. It is just beautiful, Deanna!
I am so sorry to hear that your Granddaughter has been sick.
The first semester of college is tough enough for most, without being sick.

I do hope she is all better soon, and I'll just bet that being with you on Thanksgiving will make her feel lots better.

    xo.

  5. Yes, time does go too quickly but I don't ever feel like I'm wasting it, you know? Even if I'm just sitting and reflecting. I am always blown away by any of your photos so I can't help you choose. But I can send well-wishes to your granddaughter for a speedy recovery!

  7. Time, she is a flying for sure! And you know what is right around the corner.
So sorry that Brie had a lousy start to college. Hopefully she'll have enough time during the break to heal.

  8. Gorgeous shots! and sounds as if you are going to have an amazing holiday ( with lots of work). If you can get all of your family together and get the right fence... you could always download some snow textures.... just in case no snow. They really do a very nice job! Will say a little prayer for Brie... know she will be glad to be home. WOW, Whooping cough... no fun!

  10. Your poor granddaughter, it's bad enough being sick, but then having to feel that way while your living in a dorm is even worse. Hopefully, she feels better soon. I love all your photos. It's hard to chose my favorite, but I think I would go for the rose...I love the bokeh :)

  11. Time is flying for sure. The good thing for me is that my daughters will be having Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I feel so bad for your granddaughter being sick while at college. Not fun. I will say a little prayer for her.
I love the leaf picture but that's because I love fall the best. They are all beautiful.

  12. I like the first photo. I think it must be the red flower. Does sound like you will be very busy. Time has a way of getting away from you doesn't it? Praying for a quick and healthy recovery for Brie and that she has ease in getting her studies done before she leaves for home and safe travels. Have great week.

  13. My daughter's second semester last year was riddled with illness - 14 hours 7 minutes away. It was horrible in a bucket. The upside is that she made it through it all to the other end and now knows that even with hospital visits and non-stop cycles of flu and colds, she can make it through a lot. My definite prayers and positive thoughts for Brie for health, scholarly continuity, and a safe journey home for the holiday. About the whole time element - you're singing to the choir sista --- second verse, same as the first.

I like #1 and #3 (leaning more towards #1 for the cheery color).

  14. I like #1. Sorry about your granddaughter, hope all works out for her and she and all of you can enjoy Thanksgiving. I am feeling pressed for time myself and I am so not good at feeling pressed.

  15. So sorry to hear about your granddaughter. Praying that God heals her quickly! I love love love the first shot--mainly because of the pop of red against that dreamy green backdrop. It would work perfectly in my home. Hope you have a wonderful day. :)
