Random Five On Friday - The January 10, 2014 Edition

1) I am beginning this post with trepidation due to the apparent hiccups blogger is currently experiencing. We will see how this unfolds....as I said yesterday, I was feeling really smug because I had sailed along via blogger for years...since 2009 (wow has it been that long ago since I began this blog??) without a stitch of trouble until yesterday.  Oh baby I bet their inbox was overflowing with disgruntled bloggers.  Oh and btw....that is my first of my random five on Friday.  I am going to have to dig dip to come up with 5 random thoughts today.

2) It has been kind of a (ho-hum) boring week with the only day out being Wednesday with my gal pals for the start of our new Bible study where I blasphemed (not really) Beth Moore on a recent post and then enjoyed lunch with more gal pals to examine, deliberate and confer about the new season of Downton Abbey.

3)  Today it is warming up....the drips can be heard from the melting of the snow, and Toby is in his glory.  He was feeling mighty trapped being in the house all day and not able to patrol the grounds.

4)  This week brought disturbing news from a friend and then from a relative about some difficult medical issues....and both of my granddaughters are having medical issues...all very unnerving and worrisome...all are being taken care of by the best means possible.   I am sure this is part of my "grumpiness." with the worries and the knowing I can't do a thing to help anyone of them except pray.

5) And this one is definitely a world shaker...I have decided to let my hair grow.  I cancelled my last haircut appointment then never re-booked therefore the hair continued to grow.  Returning to Bible Study after almost a month without, a couple of ladies told me that my new style made me look "younger"....well that's all you need to say to me. so no haircuts in the near future for this "younger" woman.  (giggle, snort)

So there, that is my random five...all so very notable (snore) but I would appreciate a hop over to my collaborative blog, Focusing on Life where I am musing on "begin".  And of course a trip to Nancy's, the host of Random Five on Friday is always a fun time.

Until next time....

  2. Sorry to hear about the medical issues. Pray all will be well.

Funny, I'm on month 3 of no haircut, trying to see how long I can go. I bought an organic shampoo that has made my hair look and feel healthier, so I think I can let it grow out finally. Good luck on yours!

  4. Have not had any trouble with blogger... knock on wood. How awful that would be to 'lose ' your blog with all of the treasures in it, and the time and effort put in to it. Would not even know where to start. Love your shots and glad you are hearing some dripping. Saw some news shots of lake michigan area frozen over. Seems like a really long time since that has been an issue. Can't wait to see your hair.

  7. Oh those babies are just so precious!
I grew my hair out but then had it cut recently and still don't like it. I have fine, thin hair and nothing seems to look good to me anymore. (Maybe a wig would help in my case) I say though if it makes people think you look younger, go with it.
Poor Toby has been cooped up, I'm happy it's starting to warm up for those in the Polar Vortex areas. Hopefully not so much that you have flooding issues.

  8. I am so sorry to hear about the medical issues. I hope and pray all will turn out well.

Toby is so sweet! He probably feels much better when he can patrol and know he is protecting you.

I am letting my hair grow too. I don't know if it makes me look younger, but I think it looks better. :-)

  10. Love that quote.

Sorry about the medical issues. Worry about those, can really weigh you down. Hope all works out well. You're right...prayer is sometimes all we can do. But, prayer is pretty powerful stuff.

Toby is such a cutie. Glad he's getting to do his 'job'.

Have a good weekend. It's supposed to be in the 70s here. Crazy weather!

  13. You know ... I saw a photo of you recently, maybe the one with Cinder and thought to myself, Deanna is letting her hair grow. Good luck! I haven't the patience. That photo of those two babies so is adorable! And, yes, when I was there in August, I could see that Toby took his patrol duties seriously. Oh, and so sorry to hear about the family and friend health issues. You know I'll remember those girls.

  14. Blogger ate my comment, ok again. I said cute butt shot. By the time I see you your hair will down to your butt I suppose! You need to get yourself out of the house. :) Love the kids shot and I hope your family health issues will resolve soon with good results. So stressful especially with GK's. Have a good weekend.

  15. I'm growing my hair out too. Because I couldn't afford to keep up with getting it cut so often :) That is terrible about what your friend is going through. I'm sending support and prayers.
And what the heck has been going on with Blogger!!! Very annoying stuff like not being able to upload pictures, hum. It seems better now. I don't have time for that funny business.

  16. Deanna, I've been trying to let my hair grow and today I vowed to get it cut. But, since I don't have the appointment for two more weeks, we'll see. Mine is at "that stage" - doesn't have much pizzaz. Those babies are adorable! Still frigid here.

  17. I sure hope all the medical issues clear up quickly - but we can't help but worry can we? I trimmed my own bangs before my last haircut and kinda made a mess... my hairdresser was very understanding ;)

  18. ... will add your granddaughters to my prayer list Deanna... so sorry to hear about this. Must be a great worry to you.

Love those lil' babies and Toby of course.

Blogger has been a bugger all week I agree! Must be some updating going on in the background.

Have a great (warmer) weekend, my friend. xo

  19. Oh that first photo just made me smile...well, I'm still smiling! :) I'm so sorry to hear that there are ongoing issues with your granddaughters, will keep them in my prayers. And, hopefully blogger won't give you anymore issues!

  20. I bounce back and forth between growing my hair out and cutting short. For the time being I really like it shorter, I am sure that will change.

  21. The photos of the babies is just stunning! So sorry about the health issues going on in your family. I pray that all will be well for them.
I often wonder if my hair were longer if it would help hide my sagging chin and wrinkles. Haha!
    Have a nice weekend.

  22. Very cute babies! And Toby is very sweeet too. I hope your family's health issues improve soon!

  23. Sorry for the bad medical news. Prayers for all.
I do that thing about the hair every so often, but one day wake up and can't stand it! And I always feel so much better when it's short again! That could be because I'm lazy...wash and wear is my speed!

  24. Toby is so stinkin adorable. You have a right to be grumpy when loved ones are having health issues. Hoping all will be ok Deanna.

  25. I hope you all thaw out - snow is fun, but only briefly. I hope both your granddaughters are responding well to their care. I'm doing the longer hair thing too - my son told me one day that I should grow it out longer, that I had the rest of my life to wear an "old lady hair style". Then he said "I love you mom!" which I am beginning to think translates loosely to "you poor, slow, simple woman". or not.

  26. I cut my hair shot once.. My sister never stopped making fun of me and told me never to do that again. I guess I just don't have the face for short hair. Loving your photos my friend. I bet Toby is one Happy Guy to be able to get out. I have been cooped up inside our Trailer for 3 days due to weather. But hopefully tomorrow we can get out and about.

    Hugs~

  27. Changing hairstyles is always tough, especially when you are starting to do something you haven't done for awhile. I also think I want to go short, but fortunately have saved a photo from my younger years which will be my constant reminder never to do it again.
