Random Five on Friday - The March 27th Edition

Well, let's see now, what can I find that might interest you.....

1) - We had 5 inches of snow on Monday, it melted, thought Spring would appear, then was greeted by another 1 inch this morning....arghh##@!  That last word was a 4 letter word in disguise.

2) - Getting ready for Bunco on Monday evening, I turned on the shower for a clean-up of hair & body (and you know I like squeaky clean) and the water ran cold.  Down in the basement I discovered a leaking water heater.  Now I am the proud owner ($900 later) of a brand spankin' new water heater.....arghh##@!  That again, was a 4 letter word.

3) - Binged watched the new series on Netflix entitled Bloodline, starring Kyle Chandler, Sissy Spacek and Sam Shepherd.  It has it's flaws but it kept me interested enough to watch the entire 13 episode Season One.  The setting is Florida near the Keys, and much of it takes place at a beautiful B&B inn right on the beach that the family has owned for 45 years. The black sheep son returns home for the big 45th celebration and it's downhill from there.  There were a lot of arghh##@ (4 letter words) throughout the series, but unfortunately I have come to expect that.

4) - Just saw a preview of "Outlander" which begins again on April 4th.  Based on Diana Gabaldon's books (there were 8 in this series) which are, I would mildly describe as "steamy" and romantic. Ms Gabaldon is well known for her very prolific romantic style.  If you didn't see the 1st season, go rent it, borrow it, or steal it.  You can thank me later.  And if there are any 4 letter words, they don't sound so bad with a Scottish brogue.

5) - Remember I was contemplating buying a new camera???  Well, now that I have spent a good chunk of change on the "can't be without" water heater, the camera purchase has been placed on hold....arghh##@ (you guessed it, a 4 letter word)

Disclaimer: The above images have absolutely nothing to do with this post.  And yes, it is a real nest and real daffodils, and no it isn't a real egg, plastic.

During Lent we have focused on our fears, a week at a time during Sunday morning services. "F-E-A-R has two meanings: 'Forget Everything And Run' or 'Face Everything And Rise.' The choice is yours." -- Zig Ziglar   I think that pretty well sums it all up in 4 words, now it is our choice to pick the right one when facing our fears.  Hope you have a blessed weekend.

  7. I like the textures of the old chair and the composition, the only thing was the egg was out of proportion to the nest. Loved the blue and white tea cup. I don't like all that swearing on TV or films. It is a pity people have to resort to that level of bad lanuage to make themselves understood. Hope you spring comes soon, sorry to hear about the water heater and perhaps you dontneed a new camera just now as your photoraphs are excellent. Have a wonderful weekend.

  10. In love with the chair, love all the still life's, I have had one of those years also, started January with a new water heater. Don't move to the desert they only last around 5-7 years. I have been known to binge watch netflix also, I think I watched The Tudors with was 3 or 4 seasons in a couple of weeks. Argh I am good.....

  11. That stinks about the water heater, but a definite can't live without. I have read most of the Outlander series. I think I have not read the last too yet, even though we have them. They just keep getting longer and longer. I want to read more than one book all summer, so these continue to sit on the bookshelf. Glen has read them all though, more committed than me I guess.

  12. We're getting more snow today - hopefully it won't last - maybe I should take your cue and get myself some pretty daffodils to brighten the place up a bit. Sorry about the hot water heater - definitely worthy of a few arghh##@'s!!!!!

  14. The photos are wonderful! They should be in a book about spring photos...you know the kind you put on the coffee table! I think you're doing great with the "old" camera! :-) Sorry about all the things that happened this week that caused the disguised 4-letter words. Life is such a roller coaster ride sometimes! Funny you should bring up Outlander (EIGHT books!!!) Two springs ago I attended a book fair with a friend, who suggested the book Outlander to me and I bought it. It was still sitting in my stack of "to reads," when another friend happened to ask recently if I'd ever read it (or seen the series) and I told her the book was in a landing pattern on the runway. She practially flipped out.... "You HAVE to read it!" so as soon as I finished the book I was almost done with, I started it. Yes, it's very good romantic fiction...I'm beginning to get "into" it more and more (she's about to marry Jamie). I figure I better continue on with the series of books, and then see the TV series....but EIGHT!??? :-) Maybe I'll just read the first book and jump to the TV series. Do you think that would be a mistake?

  15. I rather like the 'Face Everything And Rise,' it sometimes takes me a bit to get from the other end of the spectrum to this proper end with the Lord, but I do get there! Love your shots of the chair, cup and egg... as to a new camera, (now on hold due to your new water heater) what were/are you going to get?? I can tell you Deanna, that I am ever so glad I jumped from DSLR to Mirrorless and bought my Fuji XT1, it is wonderful to shoot with, much like the old SLRs from film era with a physical dial to change, shutter speed, aperture, iso and exposure compensation instead of mucking about in menus, they are changed with the click of a dial. Oh, and the lenses really are amazingly sharp, the pros say they rival Zeiss. Well, enough chatting, have a good weekend...

  16. Well it sounds like you have had one of those kind of weeks. So sorry about that. But I do love your photos. On netflix we watch the whole series of Sons Of Anarchy. It was about Bikers, I refused to watch at first.. But living in such small quarters I slowly got hooked. Once you got past the bad stuff it really had some shocking twist. I even cried a couple of times. I know pretty crazy.. I want to watch House of Cards next. We shall see.

Hope you get some sunshine this weekend.

    Hugs~

  18. This was enjoyable. What a bummer about the snow....again. - I think I might be using those 4-letter words myself if we had that much snow.
