I don't know what excites me more about this time of the year....the changing of the colors in nature or pumpkins and gourds, (I really am a cheap date, give me some beautiful fall landscapes to photograph or a good pumpkin and I am in heaven) And those pumpkins, the wartier & knarlier the better (probably just made-up those 2 words) and particularly the ones with those curly stems. I love green ones, gold ones, orange ones, white ones, yellow ones, and striped ones, ones that are made from sticks and glittery ones. Those pumpkins & gourds with all the bumps are beautiful in my eyes, what personality they have. In this case, beauty isn't skin deep, it's right on top for all the world to see.
They decorate my front porch from September until December, perch on my kitchen window, stand on shelves, brighten up the powder room, and take center stage on the Thanksgiving table. So today I am grateful for the abundance of pumpkins and gourds at this time of the year and right now, a piece of pumpkin pie doused with whipped cream and a cup of coffee sure sounds mighty tasty. How about you, what are you grateful for today?
"Vegetables are a must on a diet. I suggest carrot cake, zucchini bread, and pumpkin pie." ~ Jim Davis

ReplyDeleteYour gourds are all just marvelous my dear as one of the guys on TV says. no really I love them all. I make up words all the time but it is usually because I can't spell. :) I can't get over how well your pansy is doing it is just busting out of it''s pot. Love the color.

ReplyDeleteI also love the colors and textures of these gorgeous pumpkins and gourds. One of the first still life photos that I did , amazing myself, was of a pumpkin. I remember that i actually named it peter, and was totally enthralled how "photogenic" he was. Lovely shots Deanna, and all of this gorgeous color is definitely something to be so grateful for in this time of year.

ReplyDeleteTotally with you on the gourds! And I'm a cheap date, too. Just put a camera in my hands, drive me to a pretty destination and I'm as happy as a pig in a peach orchard. Have a great day!
