Friday Foto Fun (The July 1st Edition)

I love is the day Catherine and I grab our cameras and go....  This week was special for Catherine, she bought a new camera.  After seeing all of my photos and doing a ton of research (she's like that and she's really smart too) she bought a Nikon D7000 and a Tamron 18-270mm lens just like mine.  I love my new camera and I love that Tamron lens.  It is so incredibly versatile, it is usually the only lens I take on our Friday Foto Fun days.  I can take macro shots or wide angle, love that lens, oh I think I said that already, but I do love that lens.  Today was supposed to be really HOT...upper 90's with heat warnings.  Well, Mother Nature sure fooled the weathermen again.  It was cloudy, breezy and never got out of the low 80's.  Fine with me.  We headed to the Planter's Palette for their Perennial Festival.  A must for a flower lover like me.

There were sunny yellows....

Pretty pinks.....

Wonderful whites....

and Breezy blues...  I entered this one here  Lisa Gordon's Creative Exchange.

I could fill this space up with images of all the beautiful flowers that were on display....I will save more for another day.  After browsing and taking many, many, many pictures, our stomachs told us it was time for lunch.  We headed for another favorite place of mine, The Egglectic Cafe in Wheaton, serving only breakfast and lunch we needed to speed it to have time for a tasty lunch.  New to the menu for the summer was their chicken with feta cheese, kalamata olives, lettuce & ceasar dressing in a spinach tortilla wrap....oh yum, a happy dance in my mouth.  And to add to this goodness, they have the BEST onion petals served with ranch dressing that will ever grace your taste buds.   I should have taken a picture, but we were both too hungry to even think about grabbing a camera.  A great ending to a great day.  PS all of these pictures were taken with the Tamron if you are considering a new lens, consider this one.  (this is not a paid announcement)

Summer afternoon - summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.  ~Henry James

Until next time.... (comments always welcomed)

  1. Hi Deanna,
I hope you are enjoying your 4th weekend. I actually have time to browse your blog. IT IS SO WONDERFUL! I can't imagine how much time you put into this! Your flower images are just gorgeous. Between your flower shots, Terri and TracyK, I have been inspired to take closer shots and watch for the light. I have to go over to my daughter-in-laws because she is the gardener in the family and grows so many beautiful flowers like you. Well I see you went somewhere else to take these, but I've seen your garden shots and they are all FAB!
I loved your trip to ESSEX. Ha, what a HOOT! I told my husband that we had a Sunday drive destination this summer that would surely humor him. He got dehydrated yesterday at work and had to come home early. He could hardly walk. He should have known better than to be out in the heat working all day. He is much better today and we just need to take it easy over the weekend.

That Nikon lens is an amazing range. I don't think Canon has anything in that range for my camera. Boo! Well they have a 28-300 but it is a white HEAVY lens. I had it and sent it back because I thought it was way to heavy to carry around.

Well just wanted to let you know I have been here and will be back when I have time.

I have a blog but never put anything on it any more, because I really don't have the time right now.

My son just sold their house, so they will be moving within the next 2 months to Peoria, so I will not be watching the boys any more. I will then have the time to come see you. I will miss those little guys, but I have plans to keep busy with other things, so I won't be sad. You are on my list.

    Have a great day.

  2. I love this idea. I may try it this weekend. I don't have to go far since my house itself (outsid) is red, white and blue. Vsiting family in Oswego on Sunday, maybe I'll find some red, white and blue things to photograph on the way out there. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. Isn't that something all of us bloggers love to see. Have a happy fourth!

  3. You have some beautiful photographs of lovely flowers. The first is my favourite. Sounds like it must have been a wonderful day.

  4. It is so nice to meet you Deanna, and what a beautiful blog you have!

Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful photographs today at The Creative Exchange, and I hope your 4th was fantastic in every way.

  5. If that is what a tamron 18-270 can do, I will most certainly look into it for my Nikon.
What a fabulous collection of delightful images. You must have had a fun time taking these.

  6. Gorgeous blooms. I love your texture twist!! Thanks for sharing with us.

  7. So many lovely flowers here! Wonderful photography!

  8. What an amazing collection! I think you have managed to collect the full gammit of colours, fantastic!

Thank you so much for leaving a comment, I read and cherish them all. I will do my best to return the favor.
