Peeks & Texture Tuesday

Just a few peeks at the treasures that I brought home from the flea market yesterday.
Once a year, in June, the Fern Man (I call him that, seems appropriate) drives up from Florida with a truck-load full of these gorgeous ferns that he sells for a ridiculously low price.  I had forgotten that this was the month that Fern Man comes until I saw loads of people walking around with these ferns.  It is huge and the price is $12.50...best bargain anywhere, anytime.  Maybe you will get lucky and a "Fern Man" from Florida will come your way.

The second little treasure I found is this sweet little yellow painted stool.  I thought it was just perfect to set another fern on for the back screen porch.  I love ferns, especially in the summertime, especially on the screen porch.  Ferns scream summertime.

And here is a little preview of another one of the treasures found yesterday.  Isn't she sweet.

Found two little stripped vases, one in reddish/orange and the other in yellow.  Too cute, and I am a sucker for little vases.

This has absolutely nothing to do with treasures found at the flea market, but this female cardinal is a treasure in my back yard.  She just sat on the lawn chair, sunning herself, pruning her feathers.  I don't know if she was flirting with the male since he was within earshot or just pruning. Look at her gazing upwards seeking her mate.

And finally my entry for Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday.  I think I am gonna love my sweet new typewriter.  Today's prompt was to use a quote and any of Kim's textures.  My quote reads..."As you grow older, you will find that the only things you regret are the things you didn't do." Quote by Zachary Scott

Today was a day filled with sunshine and yardwork.  I did mow and trim the yard, fertilized the lawn, cleaned up all the mess that the trees have been dropping lately...watered, and planted a few more annuals.  Took a break and a shower and met Marti for our Monday evening supper time girl session.  Tomorrow is going to be another glorious day, so back to the yard and garden I will go.  Hope your day was as fine as mine.

Until next time......

  3. That typewriter is awesome! At my previous office we had a circa 1910 model that I adored and photographed several times. Your other finds are lovely as well; especially Mrs. Cardinal. All that fluff leads me to think she is indeed flirting. :)

  12. It sounds like it was a great day all 'round--lots of great photos here. Your texture entry of the Sears typewriter brings back so many memories--it wasn't so long when it seemed like nearly everything we owned had their brand on it. Enjoy it--it's sure to be a great addition to what sounds like a great collection.
