On my 20 mile ride on Friday, after my sweetie visit, I managed to capture quite a few barns, some in better shape than others, but all have their own charm.
It's difficult to see but this barn's established date is 1895
While this barn has 1948...the 1895 barn looks in much better shape than the 1948 barn....I guess they just don't make them like they used to...But I particularly like the blue chair sitting in the doorway. I drove by this same barn last summer and the blue chair was sitting in that same spot. Either it is bolted down (which I doubt) or it must be someone's favorite spot to sit or.....someone is just too lazy to pick it up and put it away. I have a feeling it might be that last choice....I know, I have things that need putting away and I am too lazy to do it.
And speaking of 'too lazy'....this morning as I was in the shower, I heard the phone rang. Now 10-15 years ago I would turn off the shower, and run dripping wet with a towel barely wrapped around me, to answer the phone because 10-15 years ago I knew that when the phone rang it was almost always someone that I knew that wanted to talk to me and I wanted to talk to them (usually). Now, more times than not, when the phone rings, it is an unknown caller, an 800 number or a business that I know is going to bug me to buy something or donate to some worthy cause. I am getting to the point where I don't answer the phone at all, if it's important, or someone really wants to talk to me, they will leave a message. And I certainly won't turn off the shower and run half-naked to try to answer the ringing phone, no not anymore. I am even starting to receive these annoying calls on my cell phone. YURK!!
OK that is enough ranting. Went to the movies with my girlfriends today...we went to see "Parental Guidance" with Bette Midler and Billy Crystal. It will definitely not win any awards, but it was cute, made me giggle and I left with a big smile on my face. The kids were absolutely adorable and there were lessons learned. Sometimes that's all you need from a movie...just a big smile as you leave.
Linking up with Trish over at Barn Charm. Wishing you all a good Monday and a great week ahead.

ReplyDeleteLovely barns, and sorry that you had a tough day on Friday. I missed your post. Some days are just more difficult than others, but can see that you are coping with your life as it is a full one, and I see your creativity every day! Blessings to you. LOVE THOSE ILLINOIS BARNS! THEY ARE THE BEST
ReplyDeleteSomehow I missed your post on Friday but I do want to say that if I were with you I would give you a big hug and take you some chocolate and say let's go out and take pictures.....it's the not the same as having your sweetie but hopefully you would feel that so many people love you.....
ReplyDeleteNow for all those beautiful barns...WOW....I don't know what editing system you are using but I always love your pictures....They have such a serene look to them and I love it....they are so welcoming and charming all at the same time....
That movie is cute....especially for grandparents...funny.....
We have to put "Barn Hunt" on our list for August. Is two-and-half days going to be enough? I also admire your moxie in getting out there in winter to shoot these beauties.
ReplyDeleteWOW! These are beautiful barns!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad today is an easier day and your barns are beauties!
ReplyDeleteHi, I just found you. Your Snippets from Springdale name on a comment over at Geneva's drew me over. I went to Springdale Baptist church growing up. That is where we got married. But it was in Fort Worth, Texas. I was intrigued to see where your Springdale is. I am sorry you had such a hard time on Friday. I cannot imagine. But I am glad you had friends that encouraged you. I have enjoyed meeting you today. And I hope that we'll be friends. I loved the barns. I am going to stay around a while and read a few more posts. I would love for you to visit me. I posted Blue Monday today. Lot's of Blue quilts. Oh I love barns btw so it was nice meeting you and seeing the barns. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week,
Sherry
Those barns are beautiful! I can't find any that even come close to yours... oh, and I do agree about the phone - I am a screener extraordinaire!
ReplyDeleteWow, love these...specially that last one. That looks like one of those old, heavy metal lawn chairs. I would LOVE to have it.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful barns and I enjoyed your pictures!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful set of barns, Deanna!
ReplyDeleteI love your positive attitude towards life. We are all handed trials in our life, J and I had 2 big ones last week. It is up to us to decide how to react. I desire to learn, grow and become stronger. Sounds like you do too! Life is meant to be lived and you do a great job sharing your enthusiasm with us. Thank You!
Your barns are beauties, Deanna! I would love to poke around in that last one. Love the blue chair in the doorway.
ReplyDeleteI am so inspired by your photography and your journey. God Bless.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful set of barns and I really do love that blue chair. I'm really hoping its someone's favorite spot to sit!
ReplyDeleteQuite a difference in the condition of the two barns! Love the photo of the second one--I'd guess that blue chair was abandoned along with the barn many, many years ago.
ReplyDeleteI agree with TexWisGirl....jealous of all your beautiful barns up there. Great shots.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the phone. We don't rush to answer. I've signed up for all the 'no call' lists...doesn't make a bit of difference.
The blue chair is wonderful - I hope they never put it away! I just leave the machine pick up calls if I don't recognize the ring or the number. Most friends/family just call my cell anyway. Others will leave a message.
ReplyDeleteSuch striking differences in the quality of construction on those barns. Both are very charming, though. They both have that going for them. Love the blue chair. You live in such a barn-rich area!
ReplyDeleteWe gave up our landline several years ago and do not miss it one bit. We never answered it anyway, so it seemed a waste.
Oh my gosh, did you watch Downton Abbey yet? I just watched today and was in a puddle. :(
These barns are gorgeous - even the one in less than pristine shape. I take my cell phone to the bathroom with me when I shower - if it rings, it is probably one of my kids. Any and all other calls will not beckon me from the shower - one too many solicitors.
ReplyDeleteYou capture the most beautiful barns....I hope we get a chance to see a few this summer!! Another big hug for you! xo
ReplyDeleteI love that barn, and your processing makes the shot even better!
ReplyDeleteI was just complaining to my hubby about getting ready to hop in the tub and then having to answer the phone, only to find out it was some sales call. I'll have to ignore it like you do. :)
Maybe the farmer leaves the chair there so he can rest because he's working so hard? The first barn looks like an old school house, almost....love them both!
ReplyDeleteI also never answer my phone...unless the ringtone is one of my kids or my mom....or my cousin in New Orleans. If it's the the one assigned to everyone else, I let them leave a message. I love cell phones because you can assign a song for each person. My hubby calling Bad Moon Rising....No.1 Son is You Give Love A Bad Name....No. 2 Son is Help (yes, by the Beatles...it's perfect for him)....my daughter is Trouble (by Pink) lol....my mom is Elvis singing Return to Sender....my cousin from New Orleans is The Long and Winding Road (the Beatles)...and last, but far from least, my boss is Mean by Taylor Swift. lol I immediately know who is calling, if they are important.
I am so glad you went to see the Bette Midler, Billy Crystal movie. I saw the poster for it outside the theater and wondered if it would be good...I loved both of them before....and my son and daughter in law gave me a "free movie and popcorn" pass for Christmas, meaning they will go with me and suffer through anything I pick. SO....guess what we will be going to see! :)
Gorgeous photos! Love the blue chair! Saw the same movie and share your sentiments! Have a wonderful and peaceful day!
ReplyDeleteI love that I have caller id that shows up on my television...I get a secret sense of power in deciding the fate of that caller :)
ReplyDeleteRed barns. Good stuff. :)
ReplyDeleteYou capture the beauty and character of these old barns.
ReplyDelete"The FBI reports that every..."
"This call is for Ella..."
Oh what lovely and charming barns to see- you are very lucky to have this view!
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing your barn photos. You just don't see barns like that here in Las Vegas.
ReplyDeleteHugs~
Gorgeous! My favorite is the last one. :)
ReplyDeleteI just love your barn photos, Deanna! Every one is special and beautiful. Your photos capture and celebrate their charm and grace like no one else.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a very happy weekend.

Now this is just stunning! I love when they have dates on them! I have been getting annoying calls and texts lately too! What is going on around here??
