Texture Tuesday & Tulips

I have never hidden the fact that I am a procrastinator...always have been, probably always will be.  I envy those that plan, make lists, appear so completely organized, but that just isn't me.  I really try to do the important things on time, like pay bills, but I have even slipped at that on occasion, which has been costly.  According to Audri and Jim Landry, who send me a daily inspirational quote that lands in my e-mail inbox right on time each and every day, that today is Procrastinator's New Years Day.  Meaning we procrastinators are just now getting around to celebrating the beginning of the New Year...so we procrastinators should celebrate the new year today or maybe tomorrow or the next day.  Well, that's a good thing because I still have some Christmas decorations hanging around and this now puts me right on schedule.  Please tell me I am not the only one out there that drags up the rear in getting things done.  Here's to my fellow procrastinators...."Happy New Year".

The challenge that the lovely Kim Klassen gave us for the first Texture Tuesday of the new year was to photograph a cup with one of her textures and that I did not procrastinate doing.  The sun is shining today, yippee, and with the sun shining and my cheery, cherry cup this is the result.  I used "awaken" a texture that Kim provided in her "Beyond Layer's" class....2 layers, the first at soft light 100% opacity, and the 2nd layer at linear burn at 39% opacity.

Told ya there would be more photos of the tulips....pink tulips make me happy!!

And because I am such a procrastinator and never threw away the roses from awhile ago I now have some beautiful dried rose buds....so here here to procrastination!!

Until next time....

  6. You've definitely put me in the pink with this post, Deanna. I like how the dried rose has such a quiet beauty. But the opening tulips are special, too. Wish it was sunny here!

  7. Deanna I also enjoy thoughtful quotes, and I do love your finale with the dried rose. Your photographs and comments make for good reading, I love to visit your blog, it's creative! Sadly, I have to agree, that often-times, I label myself a procrastinator too. I am working at it with more dedication this year, so far. Like getting out into the garden, and turning OFF the desktop, so it's not waiting for me everytime I step indoors. Just trying to be more disciplined and achieving more if I can

  8. this post makes me smile. you are too cute!! tulips are such gorgeous flowers. they are so precious. a real gift. hey, you maybe a late person but i bet there are tons of things that are just right with you. along as you don't let it mess up in your life you are good. paying bills late is big oops. been there & so sad about that ... won't do that again. but i live by my calender. if i forget something - something is terribly wrong. like i need to get to the doctor asap!! ha. ha!! i guess my issue is perfectionist ... that is my problem. at times it gets me in trouble. & i have to step away. back away. forget about it. our differences can & do make us silly - but if we keep track of them - it's all good. ha. ha!!! 12. Maybe you only procrastinate on things that are not as fun--like taking down Christmas decorations! When I saw KK's texture assignment I immediately thought of you and your vast cup collection. Beautiful photo and edit. :)

  13. Happy New Year Deanna! I am one of those procrastinators too. I still have my Nativity set up because I love it and it's the first year I've had it. I just got things put away yesterday and left a few wintery things up. Your tulips and rose are so pretty. You can keep them coming.

  17. I had to laugh at this being Procrastinators New Years Day. That is too funny. I, too, am a procrastinator. My hubby, on the other hand, is a doer...he makes lists in his head and goes over them and over them during the day. He is always on time. Always. Had it not been for him, I would probably never get to work on time. He is the reason I have never been late to work in the past 12 years. Opposites attract.

Your tulips make me smile, too! Love them!

  18. Happy New Year Deanna! On Sunday we were given a handmade Christmas decoration - the tag read "for later in the year" - very early, not slightly late.....
    Loving your tulips, so pretty.

  20. My daughter has pretty much cornered the market on procrastinating in our house - but I secretly have a little in me (that's just between you and me, okay!). I still have a piece of Christmas here or there in the house - most in the form of snowmen - which by my definition works for 'winter decoration'. These flowers are very cheery, and I like how you used Kim's latest texture. I am way behind on giving them a try.

  21. I can lean towards procrastination. Especially if it's something I really am not looking forward to.

    Happy New Year Deanna!
