A Little Winter, A Little February, A Little 365

Yes, it's cold...snowy, not so much, but darn right cold.  Right now the sun is shining, but it is 11 degrees with a windchill making it feel like -5.  I met one of my friends for a nice breakfast this morning, then decided I should drive to the Arboretum and see what I could find.  Well, it was so friggin' cold, I never managed to even open the car door, let alone get out and wander.  What pictures I took were from the driver's seat with a rolled down window.  What an adventurer I am.....not!!  So what you see below are car-window-shots....not the best, but heh, when the windchill is -5 this is what you get.

OK I probably need to take a trip to Trader Joe's and gather up some spring flowers for a more colorful blog post, and maybe that will happen later, but right now, what you see is what you get.

On a brighter note...today is the first day of February which means this month we will gain an average of about 2 minutes a day more light and by the end of the month our days will be lighter by 70 minutes.  I could sure take an extra 70 minutes a day more light, how about you?!  And because it is February 1st...the love month, here is a little love your way....an early Valentine.

And finally....I completed one month of my 365....yippee.  I found this template on the digichick web page here for anyone that is interested in this layout.  I had a couple people inquire when I posted this to my flickr page.

Hope everyone has had a good week and here's hoping you have a great weekend ahead.

We have another 6+ inches of snow on the ground here. I keep telling you, you're on the wrong side of the Lake! :)

  4. And I was stunned when there was frost on my windshield this morning...as it was 80 degrees during the day...we are having such crazy weather. In answer to your question....I will be teaching for St. Leo University...the summer course will be Interviewing and Counseling...I am very excited even though for summer it is just one course...next month we will be planning the Fall schedule ;)

  5. Boy it sure looks cold in those shots, I don't know what I would do with temps like that. I probably would stay in bed. You don't want to know what the temp is here!

  6. Yep... it's been super cold here, too! I don't venture out to take photos until it's at least in the 20's!

  8. Beautiful bridge and sky in the second shot. Don't blame you for shooting from the car window. Yikes that's cold! I almost wish I was doing 365 just to use that template. How cool.

  9. I wouldn't have ever got out of my bed with it being that cold. I would just get a bedpan and hunker down under the quilts. lol YOU got out and took pictures...from a rolled down window. It's above freezing here and I don't roll the window down most of the time. See how much more ambitious you are!!!! Pat yourself on the back, lady!!

  14. I like the simplicity of your winter shots, Deanna - even if it was too darn cold! I like the idea of more light. Stay cozy!

  16. Ah yes, Chicago winters - sooooo cold. Even from inside the car, you got some really wonderful shots! Spring will be here before we know it, and I can imagine all the beautiful captures you'll get then, too.
