Walking on the Riverwalk

Yesterday was a busy day....began with Bible Study, which I am thoroughly enjoying, then off to lunch and a book review, and rounding out the afternoon with a trip to the hair salon for a haircut.  In between the book review and the hair salon I found almost an hour to spend at the Riverwalk.  The water is running swiftly and looks mighty cold....

The river is usually filled with ducks, but today I only spied a couple and they looked ready to leave to find a warmer spot.

A little further down the walk I spied the hill....a great spot for snow sledding.  It was still fairly early in the afternoon so there were very few out sledding, I figure those that were there either skipped school or perhaps they were homeschooled...whatever, they were out enjoying the slope.

Check out this sled...the latest in sled technology.  What happened to the good ole wooden sleds?  I guess they are considered antiques now, and you can find them in your local antique shops costing 4 times or more, what they originally cost....

And then there were these 3...they all came down on one sled, stacked one on top of each other, and backwards.

When they landed at the bottom of the hill, then the real fun began.  Snowballs....

What I can't figure out is why all the snowballs were aimed at the kid that was on the bottom of the sled pile?

Oh the joys of childhood...

Remember this pic from the summer???

Here is the same bench yesterday....Didn't see any smooching going on this time.

Then I came home, fixed me some eatins' and caught up on some TV that I had taped but not watched.  And yes, I am continuing to watch "The Following"...it is creepy but it keeps me coming back for more.

"Cats are smarter than dogs...you can't get 8 cats to pull a sled through the snow."  ~  Jeff Valdez

Until next time.....

  1. Amazing...you spent your afternoon taking pictures of kids in the snow and no ducks on the water and I spent the afternoon in the warm sunshine with lots of ducks on the water.....What a contrast to living in different states.....kinda like the two pictures of the benches; one with a couple kissing in warm weather and the other all alone covered with snow.......I guess it's great that we have different weather all during the year because it sure lends itself to interesting photography.....

Wonder what our differences but same will be today?

  4. you will have to find a winter couple - maybe give them a cup of hot cocoa & that will get them a reason to get cozy for a bit - so you can take a picture or two. ha. ha!! i prefer snow angels over snow fights. i'm a lover not a fighter. big hugs to ya. ( :

  5. Great snow pictures! Nice to see the kids out having fun in the snow instead of in the house on their computers, Iphones, and Ipads.

  8. Lovely winter photos! My daughter who is 14 has a wooden sled. We brought it with us when we moved from Germany, and she still enjoys it. Usually she goes sledding once a year when we go to Yosemite (we don't have snow where we live) and everybody calls her sled Santa's sleigh. When she first turns up at the hill she gets funny looks, but as soon as everybody sees how fast and good it races down the hill without topling over, the funny looks quickly disappear.

  9. That was a busy day, guess you are beautiful with the new haircut! The water looked so cold almost looked like ice instead of water. The sled looked space age for sure. fun day in photos.
