It's Almost Summer

It's almost summer...officially, according to the calendar, summer begins June 21st but around here summer is in full swing.  Baby robins are everywhere, pots are overflowing with blossoms, roses are in full bloom and bountiful this year, hydrangeas are budding, Lady Bugs are making an appearance.

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken.  ~James Dent

It's Summer

It's summer so let's enjoy.  Find joy in everything you do, even if it's only a sliver of joy, find that sliver. Go for a joyride and spread the joy throughout the countryside.  And that is exactly what I did today.  I went for that joyride after visiting my sweetie, who I found to be joyful, which always makes me joyful.  Eventho the winds were blowing strong and the temps were in the 90's I found joy in those back country roads.  So spread your joy, in the country, in the city, wherever you are, it's summertime!!

Five Senses Friday - The June 15, 2012 Edition

It's Friday and I haven't posted a Five Senses Friday in awhile. so sure as shootin' today is the day.  Actually all of my senses were gathered in one place last night at our Band Concert in Central Park held every Thursday night in the summertime.  If it's summer, it's band concert time here in my town. People come from near and far to hear the open air music, traveling anyway they can....

They come by cars, by wagons, or by bicycles...however they can, they come....

And when they arrive they are always in for a treat...bringing their own to taste....

Everyone has to eat..."can I have some more...please?"

Or taking advantage of tasty treats sold...(now what was it that my wife told me to get??) The smells from the gazebo waft over the people with it's temptations of homebaked goodies.

And I am definitely wondering how these people's butts are going to feel at the end of the concert sitting on that curb all night?? Looks like mustache man is already thinking, "maybe this wasn't such a good idea."

Some would rather read the important news of the day, rather than watch the band play.

Some have to put out signs that say "here we are, see us??!!."

But me, I just like to hear the band play on into the evening while watching the sun set slowly behind the trees.

I hope you find something that opens all your senses this weekend.  Have a happy one.  And I would really like it if you would hop on over to my collaborative blog Focusing On Life, where I am "just hangin' "
