Scavenger Hunt Sunday - The March 3, 2013 Edition

Oh fun, I love colors so this is a perfect hunt for me.  And so wide open....it will so fun to see what everyone else posts.  Here are the challenges:
  • Red
  • Orange
  • Yellow
  • Green
  • Blue
So, one of my favorite things to photograph is red barns, especially if there is snow on the ground, that is a definite bonus.

Orange tulips was a definite purchase at the grocery store on Thursday evening...

I could easily live in this yellow house with it's big front porch and sweeping views....

A favorite green cup, with a serving of lunch.  Linking to Rebecca's

And finally, blue....isn't that just the cutest berry box, it's ceramic and comes in a myriad of colors...one of my purchases at Anthropologie a few weeks back.

Have a wonderful Sunday and a terrific week ahead.....

Until next time......

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - The February 24, 2013 Edition

Missed last week....on the road, but back to play again.  This week's challenges are:
  • Time to Eat
  • Getting Ready
  • Playtime
  • Sweet Dreams
  • Scrub a Dub
Trader Joe's has a mighty tasty frozen fried rice dish that is an easy lunch fix when it's time to eat....

Getting ready......for Spring

Oh Toby has a grand playtime when it snows.....Linking to Rebecca's The Simple Things (I was featured on here a week ago, yes I am patting myself on the back)

Well, not exactly what you were expecting for "sweet dreams" but after-all this is our final resting place.  Captured this while in Asheville, NC, a true Confederate Army General.

Now I want no laughing on this scrub a dub dub, 1 woman in the tub...snapped for a "selfie" class I am taking.

Well, that's it folks for another fun week.  Tune in again next Sunday for more scavenger hunts and hop on over to Ashley's blog to see this week's goodies.

Until next time.....

It's Sunday

It's been a busy 3 days, movie and a dinner with friends on Friday...trip to Milwaukee to visit my grandson, Brandon and his sweet wife, Hilary yesterday, now today I am headed to the movies with another friend, this time to see Lincoln.  It is bound to win best actor and perhaps best picture, so figured I better go see this future winner before the big Academy Awards Day.  Today was supposed to be a "barn run" (travel around the countryside and snap pics of local barns) but the weather turned nasty with rain and that doesn't make the best venue for photography.

Participating in Ashley's Scavenger Hunt Sunday with the challenges being:
  • Small Things
  • Illustration
  • Valentine
  • Work of Art
  • Window Beauty
Yesterday, while visiting Brandon & Hilary, we stopped at an Anthropologie...oh, big mistake.  It has so many lovely, fun things to buy....ceramic berry boxes, egg cartons, cups, bowls, etc etc all in beautiful colors.  I am a sucker for all that.  This was one of the small things that I purchased....a small jar with a chalkboard label...now how fun is that??!!

My sweet sister-in-law just sent me this book, she loved it and thought I would l enjoy it too.  The illustrated cover is enough to draw you in, but the title is perfect.

Ahh.....I love receiving Valentine's and here's one for you.

I consider my grandson a work of art....not only is he a handsome young man but he happens to be a graphic art designer.

This simple park bench, sitting on top of a hill over-looking Lake Michigan with snow on the ground becomes a work of art.

While driving along the lakefront in Milwaukee there are many beautiful old homes...I was in awe of their architectural beauty.  This one in particular had such great window beauty.

Also participating in Madge's Weekly Top Shot and Rebecca's Simple Things Sunday....

Now, off to get dressed to go see that movie.  Have a great week ahead.

Until next time.....

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - The February 3, 2013 Edition

Sunday Scavenger Hunt had me baffled this week.  I don't know if it was because you could translate these prompts a zillion different ways or that my brain was just not working properly.  I think it might be the second option....happens a lot!!   Anywho here are the prompts for this week:

  • Hidden
  • Plain
  • Left
  • Fast
  • Peace
This is REALLY a big stretch, you have to trust me on this....but this girl's Dad had just sledded down the hill but he is hidden from sight.  Really, promise.

A plain pine cone hanging from a tree with snow falling becomes a rather beautiful site.

The fence is on the left side of the image....

When the weather turned cold and the snow began to fall...the geese decided to get outa town fast.

This morning it is snowing...there is such a peace that surrounds me at the sight of new fallen snow...

Everyone...have a beautiful Sunday!!

Just Do It

I love Fall, I love Fall because of it's colors, glorious oranges, reds & golds, the cooler temps, the foods that we haven't eaten  all summer, jeans & sweaters, the smell of burning leaves...I could go on and on for all the reasons I love Fall.  I also love the month of October, 1) because of everything I just stated above and 2) because it is Breast Cancer Month. A month that is dedicated to the awareness that breast cancer is still a threat to us women, eventho there has been huge advances in it's treatment.  I am sure that every single one of us knows a friend, a family member, or even ourselves who have been affected by this disease.  So not only do I love the colors of fall, the oranges, reds & golds, but I also love the color pink to remind us to keep fighting against Breast Cancer.

Yesterday I decided to gather the remains of the pink roses that were still blooming, along with a few pink ivy geraniums to enjoy the last of these lovelies inside before the heavy frost eliminates their beauty until Spring.

In gathering these pinks, it did bring to mind that pink is definitely a reminder of Breast Cancer Awareness....

And how, we as women, need to keep up that fight against breast cancer.  Something as simple as a mammogram will help in your fight.

As my blogging friend, Kelly, says "do it for the girls."

Do it for yourself...

After having two scares myself, I never fail to schedule and get my mammogram each year. What used to be so painful, is now only a little squeeze due to the improvements and advancements that the medical industry has made.

So, get that mammogram, because of yourself and because of those that love you, just do it.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - The July 15, 2012 Edition

After several days of being totally uninspired which I am sure is due to our intense heat and little rain which has pretty much dried up all the lawns and gardens in our area leaving little beauty to photograph, my buddy, Catherine and I took a run to the country today.  Driving to places we had never seen before, discovering little gems along the way.  Decided to try and complete each challenge with what I captured today (should have taken the list with me, probably would have made it a bit easier.)  Some of these are a pretty far stretch, but that's what this is all about, one's interpretations, right?  The challenges this week are:

  • Water
  • Petal
  • Fresh
  • Eight
  • Calm
Water - OK this is my first stretch....these beautiful Queen Anne's Lace grow profusely without the need for any water whatsoever.  They are absolutely gorgeous this year, probably due to the lack of water.

Petal - OK, another stretch, but I just thought this was too good to pass up....look at this horse enjoying this field, wandering thru all the petals of the flowers blooming and totally surrounding him...

And this little one that is really surrounded by petals...and linking up to

Fresh....Oh boy, here comes another stretch....these chickens probably provide fresh eggs every day.  Well, maybe not the rooster, but surely the hen....

Now this one is no stretch...had to have at least one that was right on....eight birds on a wire.  Almost had nine, but thankfully one decided to fly away so only eight remained.

And finally calm.  The skies were calm today, with big puffy white clouds that created wonderful backgrounds for the fields and farms.....

And, I think this week we are back at Ashley's blog after she took a couple of weeks break due to the unexpected early delivery of her baby girl, Felicity.  Mom and baby are doing fine...so hop on over and maybe we will see a photo or two of the new little one....
Ramblings and Photos

Until next time....
