Today's cup is certainly not fancy, nor does it remotely resemble Christmas....but it means more to me than any of the cups in my cupboards. These cups, rather the hands holding these cups, are dear, true friends. Friends that I pray with, laugh with, cry with and celebrate with. Friends I gather with either at Bible Study on Wednesdays or when not in session, at Barnes & Noble sitting around a table sharing & caring. Today, favorite Christmas memories were shared, some so funny that our laughter could be heard all over the store, so we were told. I hope that all of you have friends like this, if you do you are as blessed as I am.
After the laughter & the coffee & a quick trip to the bathroom....I wandered the town, picking up a few gifts and wrapping supplies. I walked into "The Paper Source" and was overwhelmed with all the ideas of wrapping gifts & making gift tags. Oh what fun.
Our town is built around a small river and our fair city has taken full advantage of developing a delightful "river walk". Any time of the day or season of the year folks walk these sidewalks and enjoy what the city has given to us.
I picked up a little book on the sale table & B&N today entitled "The Complete Live and Learn and Pass It On". It is filled with great little tidbits from every age which I will be sharing in the next few weeks. Some make me giggle, others cause me to pause.
"I've learned that when I wave to people in the country, they almost always stop what they're doing and wave back." ~ Age 9
"I've learned that some people go for brains and some for beauty, but everyone appreciates a good sense of humor." - Age 30
"I've learned that the Lord didn't do it all in one day. What makes me think I can." ~ Age 46
"I've learned that I wouldn't feel eighty-five years old if I didn't look in the mirror ~ Age 85
