Happy Saturday

I am pretending it is Spring outside eventho the temps are hovering around 30 degrees.  And next Sunday is Easter.  I sure hope it warms up a little so those sweet young children can wear their new frocks without heavy coats and mittens.  Didn't you always get a new dress, shoes, sometime a hat, and always new lacy gloves?  The first year we moved to the Chicago area I dressed my son in white pants (he was still young enough that I could get away with it) on Easter Sunday....he blended nicely with the snow on the ground.

The Simplicity of Days

I love this quote....and I definitely think this is exactly what happened to me after I really dug deep into photography.  You just really see everything differently.  Personally I have always been a very visual person, whereas my sweetie could not see the rosebush in front of his face.  But photography has definitely been a re-awakening of the little things, the commonplace things in my life.  I appreciate the simple everyday images that encompass my world.

The simplicity of fresh blueberries purchased at the farmer's market...

Along with the beautiful veggies, purple onions and peppers..

And the additional lucious looking raspberries...

The beauty that I find in my garden....

Bringing that beauty inside....

Discovering that my new favorite annual is the Dragon Wing Begonia....I swear this baby will grow just about anywhere....sun, shade, and no maintenance.  You can't ask for better than that.

Having a ground cover that has these beautiful pink leaves makes me very happy.

And seeing the garden in the morning sunlight is always a bonus...

Even the spent flowers have a beauty in the morning sunlight.

And now joining Kathy's Sunday Song ography with the theme being Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run" I found this old tractor that in it's day was probably born to run all over these midwest farms.

Hope your Sunday is filled with joy and your week brings all good things your way.

Up On A Roof....

Kathy's theme for this week's Song-ography is "Up on the Roof" sung by the legendary, James Taylor...so many ways you could interrupt this, and I would strongly recommend hoping over to her blog to see how other's came up with their interpretations...fun meme.  Join in.

So these would be my interpretations...starting from the top....can you imagine what you could see from this height...the rooftop to the world.  Captured this last night when not sleeping (so what else is new??)

Then I thought of the story my Mom told me of when she was a little girl and the day she got her first pair of glasses....she scrambled up to the rooftop of the barn and was absolutely amazed at what she could see...it was like a miracle.

And then you wonder about the birds of the field and how they can fly to any rooftop and gaze at the miracles around them...do they appreciate what they can see from the rooftops?

And here is a "just because"....just because you haven't seen a mug from me in awhile, I thought this was especially perfect for a SUNDAY.

I hope you are rejoicing in today and singing from the rooftops....

Letters on Friday....OK, Saturday

Dear Yard & Garden, I was so hoping to have finished you this week and begin to enjoy sitting and sipping on the back porch, but the weather seemed to have other plans.  It has rained enough to make planting right near impossible, muddy, muddy. But the rain has certainly been good to the spring flowering bushes....my bridal's wreath is in full bloom.  And speaking of mud, oh how it loves Toby, yurk!!

Dear Weather, ok, it's time to make up your mind....air conditioning on Monday, heat on Thursday.

Dear Barnes & Noble, thank you for being so hospitable to us girls...Bible Study is over for the summer so it's back to B&N on Wednesday mornings for pure yumness for both eating, drinking and verbalizing our thoughts on really important matters like Kelly Pickler winning the overdone with glitz Miraball Trophy on Dancing With The Stars.  We all agreed she was the absolute best dancer.  The next topic was what to see at our regularly scheduled movie date this month.  Still hemming on that one.

Dear First Rose of the Season, I love you.

Dear Daisy....I love you, I love you not.  Ofcourse I love you, and it's "he loves me, he loves me not" you ninny!

Thoughts and prayers continue for those in Oklahoma devastated by the tornado this past week.  Their lives must be filled with chaos and heartbreak.  I cannot begin to imagine what it must be like to have your home and everything you hold dear destroyed so suddenly.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday The May 19, 2013 Edition

Oops again, have missed a couple of weeks.  Either I wasn't motivated, or no time...probably a little of each.  Last weekend was very busy and I am surprised I managed to get it together this week, altho some of mine are a bit of a stretch.  I should entitle this Green Scavenger Hunt Sunday because every image I have is predominately green.  This week's challenges are:
  • Three
  • Hand(s)
  • Fence
  • Cuddly
  • Sign
First up...this ivy that grows all up the side of my house has three lobes on its leaves.

It is going to take many hands to get rid of all the dandelions in my yard this year....PS, this is kind of a stretch.

The flowers from the Bridal Wreath bush are hanging on the fence.

Mr. Rabbit is all cuddly in his bed of ground cover....(but it looks like one is growing up his nose, snort)

When the red markings on the rose leaves begin to show it is a sure sign that roses will follow soon.

Whites and Winners

And the 2 winners of my prints in celebration of my 2 year blog anniversary  are:

Yolando from Peanut Butter and Jelly
Kelly from Just a Click Away

Your choice, pick any print from "my prints" or anything from a recent blog posts (preferably in 2013) and I will print it in either an 8x10, a 5x7, or 6 greeting cards with envelopes.  I so appreciate your being a part of my blogging world.  Please send me via e-mail your snail mail so I can ship these asap.

Meanwhile....I snipped off some branches from my remaining crab apple tree, this one blooms beautiful white blossoms whereas the "only now in memory one" bloomed pink.  I will truly miss the pink one.  When it bloomed it cast a pink glow in both the living-room and my bedroom upstairs...a few more tears for her, she gave me such beauty.

I love my little "wink and a smile" cup that my blogging buddy, Patti G sent me a month or so ago.  She looks just perfect with her hat of white blossoms all dressed up for Mother's Day.

Wishing all you Mothers a blessed Mother's Day.
