Scavenger Hunt Sunday - The July 22, 2012 Edition

Here we go again with another Sunday full of challenges for Ashley Sisk's Scavenger Hunt Sunday.  I went to the country again yesterday and managed to capture all of the prompts while there.  Ofcourse, did I take the prompts with me?? NO, but somehow I was able to fulfill all the challenges with just a little teeny stretch.  This week the challenges are:

• Wrapped
• Time together
• Tell Me A Story
• Love or Couple
• Duplicated

WRAPPED....This field was wrapped in blues and whites, the colors of the wildflowers blooming profusely in the fields.  Linking this up to  Rebecca's "The Simple Things"

TIME TOGETHER....The cows were enjoying themselves as together they luxuriated  in the coolness of the stream.  The lone one was headed their way to join them as soon as he ate his last bitefull of grass.  

TELL ME A STORY....hmmm "Once upon a time, Mrs. Jones having saved sunflowers seeds from the summer before, decided to throw them into the garden to see what would happen.  And lo and behold, beautiful, golden sunflowers delighted all who passed by."  (OK that was your story, are you happy?)

LOVE OR COUPLE...Here is a couple of couples...love birds or doves that always pair up and become a couple.

DUPLICATION....There is a continuous duplication of fences throughout the countryside, most being a combination of wire and wood.

But I want to show you one more fence that was a real shock and I mean that literally.  We had stopped to take pictures of an old barn and I noticed this fence that looked so "industrial" which is a little out of the norm for the countryside.  And just as I made that comment to Catherine my arm brushed the fence and pow did I get a shock, yowza...the fence was industrial & wired with electricity.   I almost, just almost peed in my pants (had to go anyway and this almost did it)  It's a good thing neither one of us grabbed it or ??

From Morning Until Night

Yesterday was a good day from morning until night....here are just a few things that made me happy.

• Visiting my sweetie.  He is good, eating well, seems to be very content and still smiles and says "I love you" which definitely makes my heart happy.  But he sure is due for a haircut...I don't know which grows faster on him, his hair or his eyebrows. 

• Loving all of the beautiful flowers blooming in the courtyard where we walk and sit and enjoy the surroundings....

• Visiting with my grand-daughter. Brie.  She was all dressed up because the family had tickets to Cirque Du Soleil - The Michael Jackson Tribute. My daughter told me this morning it was the BEST show she had ever seen, ever. Ofcourse she was a huge Michael Jackson fan in his hay day and ya gotta admit the guy was multi-talented.  Just misguided.  

• Visiting a fun old barn down the road from my daughter's home.  I love photographing this barn in every season of the year.  

And today, Catherine and I went country exploring again, so more pictures from the countryside will be forthcoming.  We have such fun searching for great photo ops...thank goodness for my GPS because we just keep turning down interesting looking roads looking for whatever catches our eyes until we decide maybe it's time to go home.  That's when the GPS goes on and thankfully guides us back to familiar ground.  Next week we are off to the County Fair...how fun!!

Friday Thoughts

OK, last night was book club and the above was the book chosen for this month.  So along with re-doing bathrooms, I was trying to get this read before we met, it is always a good idea to have read the book prior to discussion or it just might spoil the ending, ya think??  I do believe this may be number 1 on the Best Seller list, at least it was last week.  Our group was really split on like/no like and it was definitely a love/hate relationship.  Two of us did not like this book, one was split and the rest loved it.  I don't deny that the story was a page turner, and it definitely had it's twists and turns but what I did not like were the characters, a man and a wife.  Granted there were other peripheral characters, police officers, family, a lover, TV personalities, lawyer but Nick and Amy (Amazing Amy) were pretty much it.  And to sum it up with a quote from the book by Nick's lawyer, "You two are the most f_ _ _ _ ed up couple I have ever met."  And they absolutely were.  Both had issues, both had no redeeming qualities, and both deservedly needed some kind of comeuppance.  (I guess that comes later)  The language was a little raw for my taste, it's not that I consider myself a prude, but come on, do ya have to use f _ _ _ constantly?  It kinda left a yucky taste in my mouth wondering if there are really these type of people and I am sure there are, sadly.  Our discussion led us to the similarities of this book with the Lacy Peterson true life case, so yes, Scott Peterson is living proof that evil does exist.  And omg I just saw the info about the shooting at the Batman movie in Colorado.  "Gone Girl" is fiction, but this is real life.  Prayers are there for the victims and families.

OK enough of that, on to more pleasant thoughts.  I am off to see my sweetie and my daughter's new bathroom.  She had a re-do too, you know what they say, like mother - like daughter.  AND the temps are in the 80's today, that in itself is enough to celebrate.
