Finding Joy on the Back Porch

I sure don't have to go too far to find joy.  Now that the weather has warmed up....should I say heated up, it is going to be in the 90's this weekend, unheard of at this time of year, I am spending my days outside and on the back screened porch.  Rising early, fixing coffee and sittin' and sippin' on the porch is pure joy.  With a little dark chocolate spread on bagels to top off the morning, what could possibly be better than that??  Looking at the paint samples my newly hired painter dropped off for me to choose from, choose oh no, how can I possibly narrow my picks down to one per room?   Watching the birds enjoy the feeder, listening to their sweet tweets is joyful to the eyes and ears.  Enjoying cut flowers from the garden is joyful to the smeller....and I might add, a fine place to take a snooze if the urge overcomes you as the afternoon progresses.  It's just an all-around joyful place to spend time whether I am sittin' sippin' smelling, seeing or snoozing.

Love how you can see the reflection of the rocking chair in the spoon....

All of the bird pics are shot thru the screen, could be a little sharper, but it's my best view sitting on the porch....

 The roses are still blooming....sigh!!

I hope your weather is as fine as mine and that you find joy in whatever you do today!!

"I think people don't place a high enough value on how much they are nurtured by doing whatever it is that totally absorbs them."  ~  Jean Shinoda Bolen, M.D.

Until next time.....

  2. Ahhh, Deanna! I can relate to this! Campbell and I have been spending lots of time on my back porch. Screened in heaven.

  3. Oh Deanna, I know the feeling with the paint. A few years ago, we converted an old barn into a second home, and i was in charge of the paint. UGH, I still have flashbacks! There are simply too many nice choices.

You patio looks like a wonderful place to be, and I've not tried chocolate on bagels, but it sure sounds a lot yummier than cream cheese.

You have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
    xo.

  6. Sitting on our backyard patio listening to the birds' chorus is one of my favorite pastimes! Your shots are wonderful.

Have fun choosing paint colors! Are you going for neutral or bold colors? I used to love to change room colors every so often. Now I'm content with shades of beige and using decor accessories for color. :)

  7. Oh, but how I love the instant added texture that the screen gives....and oh by the way, thanks for the addiction to the chocolate indulgence, it really should be against the law! lol And, I have my mom hooked on it now too! I love your porch, and I just wish my small covered front porch had a screen on it too, as all the rain (flooding) we had recently has already given rise to a batch of mosquitoes that are so bad it's like the movie "Birds" only with mosquitoes. It's been rather warm here too with high temps, and in fact my electricity just now came on at 10:00 after being off for hours, just in time for me to go to bed.

  8. What a beautiful series of images!! There is so much simplicity & beauty in nature to be grateful for if we just take the time to sit, relax and enjoy. Great reflections on the spoons.
