Barn Charm - January 14, 2013

I don't do this very often, publish 2 posts in one day....but I forgot (yes, I forgot) that today was Monday at Trisha's Barn Charm and since I have a bazillion pics of barns I hate like heck to miss an opportunity to post at least one.

This is a typical boring white barn here in northern Illinois, but I like it after I did a little editing...changing it to b&w and adding a texture layer gave it more life.  And I also like the 2 tall pine trees that frame the barn.

Same picture, different tone...not sure which I like the best.

Well, must go.....after watching The Golden Globes last night on TV I am now behind on Downton Abby, Once Upon A Time, and The Good Wife.  And I have a book to read for bookclub on Thursday evening.  I am going to be busy playing catch-up.  Have a good week.

Until next time....

  3. I'm curious to see the sooc image, because I'm thinking that is a really beautiful barn. Your edits are really beautiful, but I'm also thinking "typical" in Illinois is rather charming.

  4. I can't decide either. I really like the texture though. It really makes the photograph look old. I can see the worn edges and smell the aged photograph just looking at it!

  5. Great barn! My favorite is the sepia tone. The texture makes the clouds look like they are painted on.

Love, love, love the barn edit. For some reason I prefer the first one. Beautiful job!

  8. Deanna, I like both barn picts, too. For some reason, the sepia calls to me a little more.

I wish I had a collection of barn picts to share. One of these days I will have to go on a barn drive.

  10. Gorgeous processing and i love them both. one of the things ilove the most about illinois is all of the wonderful barns and farms. Could spend days looking at them. Like little cities of their own!

  16. The barn might be typical, but it's definitely not boring. I love the shape of the barn. I've always loved how the design of barns are so different from area to area.

Both edits are wonderful. I particularly like the richness of the sepia tones.

  18. I am on the side of the black and white...the pine trees stand out so lovely in this one. As for catching up with your tv shows...Girl, Downton Abbey...I could watch that all day. Season 3 is not disappointing!!

  19. If you like award shows, you will be busy for a while. I like to see what people are wearing.
I am glad to hear you sounding better. I was afraid you might be coming down with the flu.
