The Berries Are Still Camera Worthy...

Since words are not in abundance right now (and I so appreciate all the encouragement and understanding of my chin dragging, I know this is a common ailment among us at times) and I do believe it is the dreariness of the winter, the no snow, the lack of sunshine all coming together to create a heap of chin dragging.

Today is better, altho there is still no snow, no sunshine, and it is still dreary looking out the window....but there is a slight chance of snow according to the weathermen (cautiously keeping fingers crossed) but they have disappointed me more than once this winter with their predictions...so I guess the chin is still dragging a little.

I was planning on making my way to Trader Joe's to pick up some flowers as many had suggested, but the only steps I made outside today was to pick up the newspaper and grab the mail out of the mailbox.  But I did take some pics of the remains of the red berries that I bought way back a couple of weeks before Christmas...I originally used them for one of the images of my Christmas cards...

The flowers have passed their prime (pretty much dead), the greens have shriveled, but the berries were still camera worthy...

There is just something about red berries in a blue mason jar that brings on a smile....!!  How about you, what brings a smile to your face?

And one more leftover from Christmas....this sweet little poinsettia I snapped a pic of last night at one of my friend's home...one of my favorite flowers of the holiday season.

And for all you that are trying to get back in the habit of exercising, I found this quote....

"When I feel like exercising, I just lie down until the feeling goes away."  ~  Paul Terry

Unfortunately that is pretty much the way I feel...shame on me.

Until next time....

  3. The berries and the mason jar make a beautiful simple vignette. I didn't even go as far as you today - stayed by the hearth. Frigid here in Breckenridge - I did do my stretches this Am. Does that count? I hope for some snow for you - or for me.

  5. I hope you get some snow! I'd love to see lots of photos of it.

We got a dusting of snow 10 years ago, so my chin's been dragging a looong time. :p

  10. Lovely shots Deanna! So if your chin is still down... take the train in to the city and go photography Chinatown as the evening lights are coming on... do some portraits...
In the winter you really have to be innovative, expecially with no snow. That to me is simply incredible where you are ( and where I grew up). ALWAYS lots of snow then. Have a lovely Sunday and love your berries. Go to Fox and Obel down off Michigan ave with your camera.... Totally fun and you can get yourself some amazing Flowers there! just some thoughts

  11. You are too cute. Sorry you are still dragging, but it hasn't affected your gift with the camera. The way you photographed the berries with a few loose ones scattered on the table is brilliant. Hope you get some snow so you can post photos for us. :)

  12. I was surpised how long my berries from TJ lasted, will get them again next year. Since we don't have a lot of red berries around they do add such a festive Christmas touch. Lovely image and I do think they look really nice in the blue mason.

  13. With all the dreariness I bought myself some flowers to photograph, but I have to good light in my house and it's so dreary outside that it is quite dark inside...sigh!

  14. Great pictures. Even with careful snipping my poinsettias are dragging. No sun in NYC either, but it's warm and I'm treating myself to lunch out, before I do my errands.
