What Is It??

Ever once in awhile I arrive at a spot where there just doesn't seem to be any words, thoughts, or images that are worth publishing.  Do you ever find yourself there?  Here I am on Day 11 of my 365, it is 5:30 PM and I haven't taken my camera out once today.

Is it the month?

Is it because the holidays are now over and there is nothing in the immediate future to cause excitement?

Is it because last night I decided to catch up on the "Parenthood" TV show I have taped since September and I am watching the Braverman family battle the horrors of breast cancer and because it is so well acted you feel their pain and sadness and anxiousness?

I don't know what it is, but my chin feels like it is dragging on the ground.  I even went to the movie today with friends (saw Silver Linings Playbook, really good movie, terrific acting) and out to lunch to a new breakfast/lunch place.

Do you ever have days like this?  If I were younger I would blame it on "that time of the month"....but considering I have long passed that stage of my life, sure can't blame it on that.

I need a new project...that's it, I will work on a new project.  But first, I am going to have myself a glass of wine....maybe that will get my chin up off of the floor.  And then I will think about that new project.

"If a man loses pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.  Let him step to the music that he hears, however measured or far away."  ~  Henry David Thoreau

Until next time....

  3. Did you recently change the width of your blog? It no longer fits on my computer screen. Is it wider than 1200? Just curious since I can't view the entire blog. :(

  4. Yes, it's the lack of snow. Truly. It's put us out of whack. Good on you for the wine, find something funny to read/watch (I recommend "Modern Family") or one of those good reality tv shows. Buy yourself a good treat (clothing, something you realllllly like) and have some protein and carbs. Okay, the pharmacist has spoken. Bring on that snow! We NEEEEED it!!!!!

  5. The misty shot is so subtle - lovely and contemplative. Of course, we all hit snags. I take off from the blogs the whole month of Dec - really don't use electronics much at all that month. It's rejuvenating. Now, in January, when I'm trying to be "mindful" and write something each day, I'm wondering how I'm going to manage 31 days let alone 365! Tomorrow is another day - and you did manage to post today! Good for you.

  6. We get depressed when it's cloudy and windy and rainy and we are stuck inside for days. When the sun comes out, we cheer up. I really believe that your hormones still do something freaky to you after menopause, because both my mom and I get gloomy around the same time....which is around the same time my daughter is pms-ing....and we all three used to have our time of the month around the same time.

Cheer up. We bloggers are here to lift each other up and help chase those winter blues away. You don't have to go out to take a picture of something cheery....and you don't have to write something that matters...we all love to hear what we do each day, and most of us watch a movie, or go to eat, or bake something scrumptious. That's life. There are more "normal" days than exciting ones....but that's what makes the exciting days exciting anyway, isn't it? We love to see what you show and hear what you say, no matter how trivial in your own mind it may be. :) Hugs.

  7. Deanna Iso loved the misty scene you added...that made my day. Too gloomy outdoors for you, and here way too hot to be in the sun for long...it's currently 40 degrees celcius outdoors. Poor birds and garden....some plants have been burnt past few days. The birds I look after with plenty of water bowls. We will each find our way with new projects along the way.

  8. I know exactly how you are feeling.. I try to blame it on Menopause. I have been so out of it for a couple of weeks. I just can't get motivated to much of anything. But I sure do hope I snap out of it soon. I had another jammie day today.. That's twice this year already... What the Heck... I do enjoy your photos. And I do hope you have a great weekend.

    Hugs~

  9. OH I have those days all the time. Some days I just want to sit and watch TV and do nothing else other days I have so many things I want to do that I run out of time. In 2010 I tried to do a 365 project. Failed at it miserably due to the fact that after a while I felt that I had used up my creativity. And then yesterday as I looked through my archive of images and realised there was nothing catching my attention I decided to play around with my blooming hyacinths. At the end of yesterday I had a few images I liked and have shared them on my blog today. Good luck with your new project.

  10. Deanna your photos , for feeling blah, are stellar. I always get like this after the holidays, and many years have planned a trip after Christmas. It never fails to lift my mood. Everything looks so BROWN after the colors and over excitement of the holidays...one of the great things in being the age that we are is that you know.... THIS TOO WILL PASS. Hope the glass of wine helped, and that first photo was gorgeous. Where was it taken at? Great lighting and perspective.

  11. Have those days too! When the right picture or subject comes along it will spark you right up! Even though I have thousands of old photos there is nothing like a new park or maybe a pond with lots of wildlife to inspire me! You are so talented Deanna I just know you will rebound soon!

  12. I believe it's the time of year... but you are doing something about it at least. Have a lovely weekend Deanna.

  13. Def the time of the year for ME. I hate it. I'm in limbo and biding time. And I don't do well with "biding".

  14. January is a Eeyore month, gloomy and a bit sad, no wonder so many animals hibernate....

  15. Oh, I have these kind of days more than I care to admit. Maybe it's the winter blues? The cancer storyline on Parenthood is gut wrenching to watch and you're right, it seems so real because the acting is top notch. I wish I was a Braverman sometimes despite all their issues. Hang in there! It'll get better. Hugs.

  16. Oh, I feel like that too. It's that time of year for me. Maybe you should by yourself some fresh flowers to cheer yourself up and bring a little bit of spring into the house. Or perhaps you could have a friend over and watch a funny show. I don't watch many movies, but have you ever seen, The Proposal? I love that movie and it always makes me smile. Hope you have a happy weekend. Oh by the way, I really love that pretty, misty photo!

  17. I know how you feel. Maybe it is the time of the year but I go through it off and on anyhow regardless of the weather. I hope yours passes quickly. I admire that you are doing a 365. I tried a 52 week on flickr one year and got to 51 and ran out of ideas. So close... Love that first shot with the hazy reflections.

  18. It's called "January" ... which just happens to be the longest month of the year. July has 31 days just like January but July goes by much more quickly. In our neck of the woods ... we need sunshine!

  19. We all have these kind of days, I suppose. I know I do.
I'm blaming it on the Holiday Hang-over and the weather. We're getting some rain now. We REALLY need it. But, it makes for gloomy days.
A new project will surely help.

  20. ah, a glass of wine to spur on new ideas. I am right with you, girl. Hope your chin is up and looking forward these days. Hugs.

  22. I know exactly what you are talking Deanna. I have been in that slump, well since summer I guess is when it really started. Between my Mother-in-law being in the hospital and almost loosing her,who is not well still but improving and my husband being in and out of the hospital, the second time with his life on the line my chin finally hit the ground. Oh I pulled it up and we have been blessed with miraculouse healing on his part but all of this has seemed to take the words right out of me. I suppose they'll come around again sometime...I have however noticed an increasing urgency to take pictures...maybe my words will be in my pictures for awhile. I think you will get your chin up too-consider it a resting and cleansing period and take pictures for awhile. Always love seeing your photos.

  23. Yep, it must be "that" time of "year"...It has been raining, raining, raining here and I'm quite tired of it. Dreary awfulness!!
But the sun came out on Friday for a few hours, I made it to the sunrise and walked, and walked the trail and got home at 5:00, but not before it became dreary, and drizzly and overcast again...it's raining now, again. I have to say I had much more fun with my phone camera than I did with my big girl camera. Yep, my chin, my bum AND my brain are dragging.

  24. Take heart, Deanna! I know exactly what you are talking about and yes I have been there - often! You always have such wonderful photos that to me you look inspired each and every day!

  25. Keep lifting up that chin dear friend! I know the feeling of the winter blues all too well. Isn't it crazy how so many people complain of winter & the snow & the cold - yet you........an I miss it. We actually miss it! Find sunshine in the littlest things & know so many are lifting you up!
