Fence Friday

I love to photograph fences, don't ask me why, just do.  I think it started when I joined Flickr last year and came upon a weekly challenge entitled Fence Friday.  Gorgeous fences are displayed each Friday, but since I began the Big Picture Classes, blogging, various challenges, etc, I just can't do it all.  I don't know how young mothers keep up with doing all that they do and sleep too.  Maybe that is the answer, no sleep.  Sometimes you have to pick and chose, not that I want to.  If you are like me you want to do it all.  Maybe I like fences because they remind me that "the grass is not always greener on the other side." or not to let fences stop me from finding joy in the everyday (metaphorically speaking).

“A woman's dress should be like a barbed-wire fence: serving its purpose without obstructing the view.” ~  Sophia Loren

“Throw your heart over the fence and the rest will follow” ~ Norman Vincent Peale

“The wide world is all about you; you can fence yourselves in, but you cannot forever fence it out.” ~ J.R.R. Tolkien

“It doesn't matter which side of the fence you get off on sometimes. What matters most is getting off. You cannot make progress without making decisions.” ~  Jim Rohn

“Careful as a naked man climbin' a barbed wire fence” ~  Cowboy Proverb

"If you strive for the moon, maybe you'll get over the fence."  ~  James Woods

“The grass may be greener on the other side of the fence but you still have to mow it.” ~ Proverb Quote

I decided to add this to a new challenge....this week's challenge is Yellow

Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge

Some of these photos were obviously taken on my trip to Colorado.  Other's are just a few of my older stash.  Hope you enjoyed my Fence Friday.

Until next time.......

  1. I'm with you Deanna...fences, doors and windows are forever calling out my name. Windows and doors always hold such secrets on the other side. Not sure about what it is with fences tho...but I always love the leading lines they produce in photos, and they have such amazing texture. What a great find that fence with the star on it is!!! I could REALLY use that for this week's scavenger hunt as I am sorely lacking in that prompt! haha. And I get such enjoyment out of all your quotes and how they relate to the day's topic. Brilliant!

  5. Deanna, this is so great. I read and looked at the pictures and I thought that I never liked fences and doors. I perhaps should learn how to throw my heart over the fence and wait when the rest will follow. Love it. I will try to simplify my relationship with fences. They might be so beautiful.

And the last picture touched my heart. It's incredibly beautiful and poetic.

Wonderful quotes, beautiful and amazing series of pictures. They are all outstanding.

Have a nice and relaxing Saturday! And creative.

  9. Awesome images Deanna. I love fences too, and am partial to rustic fences. One of my favorite quotes though don't know who to credit is "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence because it's been watered." The moral being if you "water" your side it will be green.

  14. Deanna,

I just read that you put your hubby into nursing care and I'm sad to hear it, but know how necessary it is. You are still in my prayers. I love that you are sharing your work here. You and your camera are a perfect match.

Your work is beautiful as always. You have such a great eye and every shot you take shows it in amazing images. I love the quotes on the fences. I love your humor and your love of life. It really shines in your words and your work.

Just divine! Thanks so much for sharing. You are an inspiration!

    Hugs to you,
