Today was "smash and grab" day....you know what that is ladies, mammograms. The "technician" no matter how gentle she is there is still that smash, pinch, oww feeling. However, I will gladly suffer a little smash each year after the two scares I went through, the last being in 2006. Fortunately, neither
"scare" resulted in no more than a few days of hang wringing and palpitations, thank God. And because of those 2 scares I go through the Smash and Grab once a year. I just automatically after completing my appointment, make one for next year. And I encourage all of you out there to follow suit.
After completion of "smash and grab" I feel it is definitely necessary to give myself a treat. I headed in what I thought was the direction of one of my favorite flower garden centers which is located on a beautiful piece of land. However, I never stumbled across it. I even tried putting the name in my GPS, to no avail...so I found my way back home, stopped and grabbed a sandwich and walked over to the Riverwalk which is located in my downtown. This is what I saw as I sat and ate lunch....ahh how sweet it is.
After I finished eating, I decided to walk a little down by the river and see what delights I might find. Today over at Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday she encouraged us to take a picture with a "Look Down" theme. So here is my interpretation of look down....looking down the river using her texture, "dreamit" and linking to Texture Tuesday....
As I made my way back to the car, two girls were paddling down the river having a fun time, hopefully with not a care in the world.
We should all paddle down the river sometimes, leaving all our cares and woes on the banks and hope they will all float away before we return.
"As you grow older, you'll find that the only things you regret are the things you didn't do. ~ Zachary Scott
Until next time.....
Yep, mine is due. I make out that card every year as reminder. What a wonderful fountain area to have lunch and treat yourself.
ReplyDeleteOh you have reminded me I need to make mine . . . it's overdue. Love the photo of looking down the river, just gorgeous and great edit!
ReplyDeleteI'm over due for my smash and grab! Thanks for the reminder! These are beautiful as ever
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the covered bridge is gorgeous! I would love to be paddling down that river.
ReplyDeleteI have my mammogram scheduled in a couple of week. I had a scare several years ago too. But all was good.
What a beautiful setting for lunch. The girl in the canoe looks very happy. To be that young again without a care in the world would be nice.
ReplyDeleteI'm so overdue on my smash and grab. Yikes! I justify it by saying I breast fed my children and there is no history of it in my family. But I know that's just an excuse. Thanks for the reminder!
so pretty, i love that quote!!
ReplyDeletehaha, i love "smash and grab"...well not literally, it's just a cute way of saying it!!
After a Smash & Grab you definitely needed to treat yourself to some beauty. I love all your photographs today, but especially your textured one. Stunning! Always fun Deanna!
ReplyDelete"Smash and Grab"...haha. Perfect analogy :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shot and texture work with the river and bridge!
ReplyDeleteHi Deanna,
ReplyDeleteAm so glad you went for your smash and grab (the name made me smile :))
Your photos are lovely.. your texture work is fabulous!! I haven't played with textures in ages.. I've been busy with a photo project.. once that is done I want to just paddle around in Photoshop (instead of the river) and leave my worries by the side for some time :)
xo
Really nice photos. I particularly like the girl paddling down the river -- the reflection or her turquoise top in the river.
ReplyDeleteIf only leaving some of our troubles behind were as easy as paddling away from them. Wouldn't that be nice. Great pictures Deanna. (As usual ;-)
ReplyDeleteI just turned 40 last year and had my first "smash and grab." Although I didn't call it that--but I will now! Haha! And yes, you definitely need a treat afterwards. :)
ReplyDeleteHaven't done my first "smash and grab" yet, it's done when you turn 40 here. I am not looking frwd to the "oww feeling". :P
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the covered bridge is gorgeous, Deanna! Love it!
Happy day to you! xo
It always amazes me how flat they can go in that machine.. Yikes.. I have mine done every year weather I like it or not.. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos my friend.
Hugs~
Appears smash and grab did not interfere w/your clicking finger, as these images are lovely.

Ah...smash and grab. That is the perfect description. They are pretty uncomfortable. I've only had one that brought tears to my eyes, though. Guess I've been lucky with that.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the rest of your day was much more fun.
The covered bridge image is gorgeous!
