Leave a Little White Space

"Be moderate in order to taste the joys of life in abundance." ~ Epicurus (341 BC-270 BC)
Check the dates of this guy Epicurus that is credited with this gem of a quote....he died 270 years even before Christ was born.  Was true then, definitely true now.  Life rushes between the mundane and madness.  You know that's so true.  How many times do you look at your calendar and there is absolutely not one white space to be seen and you feel like your life may be spinning out of control with no down-time.  In order to find contentment, moderation is definitely the key.  Finding the right balance is sometimes elusive.  But simply seeking it allows you to avoid excesses.  Learn to say "no" when you just can't squeeze one more "to do" on your list.  I remember a few summers ago I had three really wonderful events literally back to back, two out-of-town trips and the third a visit from a favorite person.  When they were all over, I stopped and realized that I hadn't had time to enjoy and savor the moments of one before the next one began.  Too much, too excessive all at once. Sometimes these events can't be avoided but if we allow things to happen naturally I think we will be surprised how often they center themselves, not too much, not too little.  Finding that balance will help us to appreciate all of life's abundance, leave some white spaces on your calendar, embrace your moments.

Today is Texture Tuesday over at Kim Klassen's cafe.  Kim is so, so generous with her textures and this week she has requested us to use one of her latest freebies...."embrace".  I have applied "embrace" to both of the images below.

First layer of "embrace" at soft light, 100% opacity, 2nd layer at linear burn at 45% opacity.

This one also has the one layer of embrace at soft light with 40% opacity and a 2nd layer at linear burn at 80% opacity.  I also used Florabella's Classic Vintage action on both images.

Have a totally terrific Tuesday everyone.....!!!

Until next time.....

  6. Such nice images! I especially love the perspective on the first one and the soft colors in both of them. I hear you about saying "no," too. You are no good to anyone if you are overwhelmed -- even by wonderful things -- so I've learned the hard way that "no" is a very good word to say.
