It's hot here, as it is in many places throughout the US, and when it is hot, Deanna doesn't do much, except take pictures, sit on the porch, drink cold drinks, eat ice-cream, take more pictures, drink more cold drinks, try to hold back on eating too much ice cream, but will continue to take more pictures and drink more (damn forgot to buy that bottle of wine when I went to Walgreens).
Right now it is a little after 8:00 PM and fireworks begin at 9:45 PM. I bought myself a tripod, not a real expensive one, but one that will do the trick, and hopefully capture some fireworks tonight. There are so many trees around this neighborhood that it becomes almost impossible to see them, but I am hoping to catch glimpses of them up at our neighborhood school parking lot, keeping fingers crossed. If you see them tomorrow on my blog, you will know I was successful. If you don't see any, don't ask.
So here are a few of the pics I took today between ice cream and drinks....
The boys across the street are trying to stay cool. I love the baby pool, the shoe holding the drink, the confederate flag stuck in the ground and those sun-glasses....what a scene.
another shot of my hydrangeas not in a blue mason jar....
Along with the heat we did get quite a rain shower this morning. The sky turned really, really dark, the winds picked up and then the rains came. We sure do need that rain.
I sat out in the yard this afternoon waiting for the birds and this is the only shot I got. I think I do better on the porch....
And this is one I captured from the porch...see the screens, built in texture....
The Queen Anne's Lace is starting to bloom....love it
Playing around....
So what do you do when it is hot??
"What dreadful hot weather we have! It keeps me in a continual state of inelegance."
~ Jane Austin
Until next time.....
All the pictures are beautiful, but the one on top is just hilarious, made me laugh out loud :-)
ReplyDeleteLike you i"ve been on our covered patio for photography, but the birds are scarce. I think it's too hot for them. A rogue hummingbird appeared, but by the time my slow lens focused, she was gone. I was mad. Anyway, these are lovely photos. The goldfinch is outstanding. I hope you get your fireworks shots! Looking forward to seeing what you got. And if I don't see any, I'll know not to ask. :)
ReplyDeleteWish it was summer here. Love the little bird.
ReplyDeleteOh I love the picture of the guys. It is too funny. I'm glad you got some rain. We have had rain, but we have a water ban going on because some pipes broke. So it is a nice excuse to not do laundry and use paperplates since we aren't supposed to run the dishwasher. ps- I love that pinwheel picture!
ReplyDeleteIs it already the Fourth there? When it's so hot, I usually stay in and chill as the old I get the more heat affects me, though in the awful heat Saturday my daughter and I drove to Asheville to see "People Like Us." (It was sooooo good!) We got rain overnight so hopefully it'll be cooler today and I can venture outside. Good luck w/your fireworks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos ! yeah, summer is right here now, let's have some fun :D
ReplyDeleteOh my, it's so hot here....and humid, of course it's the gulf coast. Oh and did I mention the mosquitoes? I'm not sure what has happened to all my free time, summer with the kids being home is sucking it all into the universe somewhere and someone else is, I think, enjoying it. Did they do fireworks early by you? Hope you had some luck, I always find them tricky.
ReplyDeleteI especially love the photo of the guys across the street. It looks like a scene from a movie.
