An Early Morning Walk Thru My Garden

It has been really, really gloomy here the past few days....so unlike what you would expect for the 1st of July.  It never reached 70 degrees on Tuesday...brrr.  I was so chilled that evening I put my winter jammies, socks, slippers & robe on just to warm up.  Somehow I couldn't bring myself to turning on the heat.

But this morning, the sun was shining, the temps are supposed to be in the 80's and it's the 4th of July!!  Come take a walk with Toby and me as we stroll thru the gardens on this beautiful morning.

The impatients are finally blooming....they were just green for so long, but now that they have burst into bloom, they certainly brighten up the front garden.

Daylilies are beginning to open....this one is "Rosie Returns" and that is exactly what she does...return after her initial bloom. I love it when flowers return again and again.

Hostas are my friends, both in the front and in the back.

I have come to embrace texture in the garden...

This is my grand-daddy Hosta....the first hosta I bought over 30 years ago and he has provided me with plant after plant.  I have lost track of how many times I have divided this beauty....but he can be seen in many spots throughout my gardens.

A sweet new Cone Flower....love these beauties.

Happy 4th of July to all my USA friends....have fun today as we celebrate the birth of our great nation.

"We on this continent should never forget that men first crossed the Atlantic not to find soil for their ploughs but to secure liberty for their souls."  ~Robert J. McCracken

Until next time.....
